van der Waals gas bubble as a dynamical system
Physical Review A, 1988A van der Waals fluid contained in a bubble under constant surface tension and temperature is formulated as a dynamical system. The temperature and surface tension determine the nature of the equilibrium solutions. The bifurcation set is a cusp where the cusp point is a shifted critical point, thus modifying the van der Waals critical point.

Anomalous Transport Properties of a van der Waals Gas
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968The contribution of the long-range potential to the transport coefficients of a van der Waals gas in the critical region are calculated using the time-correlation-function method. The microscopic currents are expanded in terms of wave-vector-dependent density fluctuations (found previously by van Kampen) whose time dependence is assumed to be described

Nonclassical behavior of the van der Waals gas
Journal of Statistical Physics, 1973The partition function of the van der Waals gas is represented by a functional integral which is evaluated by summing the value of the integrand over its absolute and all of its secondary maxima. This leads to a one-to-one correspondence with the Ising model with nearest-neighbor interactions only.

The fugacity of a van der Waals gas
Journal of Chemical Education, 1988The cubic nature of the vdW equation can be overcome as an impediment to exploring the remarkable properties of this equation.

VAN DER WAALS EQUATION OF STATE REVISED: GAS MOLECULAR VOLUME CORRECTION
Modern Physics Letters B, 2011A simple modification has been introduced to the volume correction term in the original van der Waals equation of state based on the intermolecular attractions for real gases, and the new equation of state has been established. While the proposed equation is simpler than other modified equation of state, it produces the best agreement with experiment ...

Gas molecule sensing of van der Waals tunnel field effect transistors
Nanoscale, 2017Utilizing van der Waals heterostructure gas sensors, we measure the rectification behavior of the sensitivity signal and devise a fingerprint map of the sensitivity variation in a mixture condition of two different gas molecules.

Exact Roe Linearization for van der Waals’ Gas
2001An extension of Roe’s method to the van der Waals gas is presented. The introduction of a convenient supplementary equation in the Roe linearization problem for the intermediate state allows to evaluate the velocity and total specific enthalpy separately from the determination of the density that is needed to compute the Roe matrix when thermodynamic ...

Van der Waals Interactions in Density-Functional Theory: Rare-Gas Diatomics
Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation, 2009The application of conventional GGA and meta-GGA density functionals to van der Waals interactions is fraught with difficulties. Conventional functionals do not contain the physics of the dispersion interaction. To make matters worse, the exchange part alone can yield anything from severe overbinding to severe over-repulsion depending on the choice of ...

Gas–gas equilibria—From Van der Waals to Ulrich Franck
The Journal of Supercritical Fluids, 2006Abstract The experimental work of Ulrich Franck and his collaborators on phase separation in binary aqueous mixtures of gases at high pressures and temperatures is summarized and placed against the background of the school of Van der Waals, Van Laar and Kamerlingh Onnes in The Netherlands, who performed the first theoretical and experimental studies ...
