Limits of Solutions to the Isentropic Euler Equations for van der Waals Gas

International Journal of Nonlinear Sciences and Numerical Simulation, 2019
Abstract In this paper, we consider limit behaviors of Riemann solutions to the isentropic Euler equations for a non-ideal gas (i.e. van der Waals gas) as the pressure vanishes. Firstly, the Riemann problem of the isentropic Euler equations for van der Waals gas is solved.

On Failures of van der Waals’ Equation at the Gas–Liquid Critical Point

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermophysics, 2018
This comment is in response to a recent “new comment” by Umirzakov on the article “Gibbs density surface of fluid argon: revised critical parameters.” It was incorrectly asserted that van der Waals equation “proves” the existence of a scaling singularity with a divergent isochoric heat capacity (Cv).

The fugacity of a van der Waals gas

Journal of Chemical Education, 1988
The cubic nature of the vdW equation can be overcome as an impediment to exploring the remarkable properties of this equation.

van der Waals gas bubble as a dynamical system

Physical Review A, 1988
A van der Waals fluid contained in a bubble under constant surface tension and temperature is formulated as a dynamical system. The temperature and surface tension determine the nature of the equilibrium solutions. The bifurcation set is a cusp where the cusp point is a shifted critical point, thus modifying the van der Waals critical point.

On the van der Waals gas flow in a thermal jet

Journal of Engineering Thermophysics, 2014
Stationary subsonic and supersonic van der Waals gas flows in a thermal jet are considered. It is shown that in the case of ideal gas in length of both cooled and heated jets, temperature extremums can be observed, which is associated with the existence of bifurcation values of the Speed number, M = 1 and \(M = 1/\sqrt \gamma \). Concerning the van der

Multiplicity of thermodynamic states of van der Waals gas in nanobubbles

Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2021
Abstract The gas-containing nanobubbles have attracted extensive attention due to their remarkable properties and extensive application potential. However, a number of fundamental aspects of nanobubbles, including thermodynamic states for the confined gas, remain still unclear.

Anomalous Transport Properties of a van der Waals Gas

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968
The contribution of the long-range potential to the transport coefficients of a van der Waals gas in the critical region are calculated using the time-correlation-function method. The microscopic currents are expanded in terms of wave-vector-dependent density fluctuations (found previously by van Kampen) whose time dependence is assumed to be described

On the condensation of a Van der Waals gas

2011
A classical gas whose particles interact through a weak long range attraction and short range repulsion is studied. We study the properties of a non-linear integral equation, previously derived by N.G. Van Kampen, whose solutions give the possible equilibrium density distributions.
