Extraction replica method from thinned transmission electron microscopy samples without floating off carbon films: A case study on reduced activation steel. [PDF]
Abstract A recipe for producing carbon extraction replicas from twin‐jet electropolished disks is described. This technique allows tracking the analysed region with respect to the bulk sample. An example use of the method as applied to a reduced activation ferritic martensitic (RAFM) steel, ‘UK‐RAFM’, is reported.

The electronic structure of vanadium carbide, VC
Within an energy range of 2.4 eV, we have explored 29 of the 36 states of the diatomic molecule VC that arise from the atoms in their ground state, V(4s23d3;F4)+C(2s22p2;P3). We use multireference methods with large atomic natural orbital basis sets.

Comment on "synthesis, characterization and growth mechanism of flower-like vanadium carbide hierarchical nanocrystals" [PDF]
This Letter is in response to a recent paper by Ma et al. (CrystEngComm, 2010, 12, 750-754) which arguably studied vanadium carbide nanostructures whereas all available evidence indicates the study of vanadium oxide.
