Routing in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) is a complex task due to high mobility. In such cases, short lived routes need to be established, without any prior knowledge about the network topology. Approaching routing for the unpredictable traffic conditions of unplanned cities requires quick node discovery and validation.

GNSS Synchronization in Vanets
2009 3rd International Conference on New Technologies, Mobility and Security, 2009The literature about GNSS in vehicular networks is usually restricted to the mutual interaction between positioning and routing (respectively with georouting and services of GNSS assistance). However, despite the apparent contradiction, also asynchronous Vehicular Ad-hoc networks (Vanets) built on the top of IEEE 802.11p require an absolute ...

Current transportation systems face great challenges due to the increasing mobility. Traffic accidents, congestion, air pollution, etc., are all calling for new methods to improve the transportation system. With the US legislation in progress over vehicle communications and EU’s finalization of the basic set of standards over cooperative intelligent ...

This chapter is about the physical layer (PHY) of VANETs and will present all its main features with a bottom-up approach, starting from the relevant physical propagation and reception phenomena; afterwards, the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-Wi-Fi standard, as adapted to the vehicular environment, will be introduced; then, the ...
