Compression of Polyconvex Envelopes of Isotropic Functions via Monotonic Input Convex Neural Networks

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT This work presents a novel neural‐network compression approach for polyconvex envelopes of isotropic functions. The approach relies on a classical sufficient criterion for polyconvexity and is particularly suited for the representation of determinant‐constrained energy densities arising in non‐linear elasticity.

Topology, Orientation and Fiber Path Optimization for Layered Anisotropic Materials

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Topology optimization and additive manufacturing complement each other: the freedom offered by design optimization enables the creation of complex, highly efficient structures that are often feasible only with additive manufacturing. However, most structural optimization methods assume isotropic material properties, an assumption that ...

Subspace Acceleration for Efficient Nonlinear Water Wave Simulation

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Volume 98, Issue 10, Page 1165-1180, October 2026.
We introduce an exponentially weighted subspace acceleration technique to reduce GMRES iterations for solving the Poisson equation with time‐dependent coefficients in nonlinear, dispersive free‐surface flows governed by the incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations. The method significantly reduces memory requirements and computational complexity compared
