A Field‐Deployable, Wearable Leaf Sensor for Continuous Monitoring of Vapor‐Pressure Deficit

open access: yesAdvanced Materials & Technologies, 2021
This work presents a wearable sensor for real‐time on‐leaf monitoring of relative humidity (RH), temperature, and vapor‐pressure deficit (VPD) of plants in both controlled environments and under field conditions.

Defining critical water stress thresholds for adaptive management of alpine grassland phenology on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau

open access: yesGeo-spatial Information Science
Alpine grasslands on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, a critical carbon sink, face escalating water stress under climate change, yet the thresholds of compound soil-atmospheric drought triggering autumn phenology shifts remain unknown.

A Recent Systematic Increase in Vapor Pressure Deficit over Tropical South America. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2019
AbstractWe show a recent increasing trend in Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD) over tropical South America in dry months with values well beyond the range of trends due to natural variability of the climate system defined in both the undisturbed Preindustrial climate and the climate over 850–1850 perturbed with natural external forcing.

Relative Controls of Vapor Pressure Deficit and Soil Water Stress on Canopy Conductance in Global Simulations by an Earth System Model

open access: yesEarth's Future, 2022
Climate change impacts soil water (SW) and vapor pressure deficit (VPD), critically influencing land‐atmosphere water vapor and CO2 exchange. There is a lack of model‐based global evaluation of the relative roles of the aforementioned water stresses in ...

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Optimization of leaf morphology in relation to leaf water status: A theory. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The leaf economic traits such as leaf area, maximum carbon assimilation rate, and venation are all correlated and related to water availability. Furthermore, leaves are often broad and large in humid areas and narrower in arid/semiarid and hot and cold ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Space Climate Manifestation in Earth Prices - from Medieval England Up to Modern Usa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In this study we continue to search for possible manifestations of space weather influence on prices of agricultural products and consumables. We note that the connection between solar activity and prices is based on the causal chain that includes ...

Is There Daily Growth Hysteresis versus Vapor Pressure Deficit in Cherry Fruit?

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2021
The growth of cherry fruit is generally described using a double sigmoid model, divided into four growth stages. Abiotic factors are considered to be significant components in modifying fruit growth, and among these, the vapor pressure deficit (VPD) is ...
