Vaporization and vaporizers

2005
Abstract A liquid can be thought of as incompressible; at a molecular level it is because the molecules are so close together that very little further approximation of them is possible. If these molecules are given sufficient energy in the form of heat, they acquire more kinetic energy as shown by an increase in temperature.

Vapor Pressure and Solvent Vapor Hazards

AIHAJ, 1984
This paper discusses applications of vapor pressure to industrial hygiene. Vapor pressure is the quantitative term characterizing solvent volatility; it is also equivalent to the concentration of solvent vapor at the liquid surface. The ratio between this concentration at the source and the acceptable concentration at the breathing zone is an intrinsic

Vaporization of the prostate

Current Opinion in Urology, 2004
Transurethral resection of the prostate remains the treatment of choice for men with symptomatic benign prostatic enlargement. Concerns regarding the morbidity of this operation have led to the development of alternative surgical procedures. Vaporization of the prostate can be achieved using either laser energy or electrosurgery. The advantage of these

Vapor pressures, vaporization reactions, and thermodynamics of vaporization of VS(s)

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1983
Two studies of the vaporization of VS(s) were conducted in the temperature range 1770–2069 K by the simultaneous Knudsen-torsion-effusion method. The vapor pressure of VS(s) was best represented by the equation log(P/Pa)=−(2.161±0.057)×104 K/T+11.02±0.29.

The Steam Vaporizer

Pediatrics, 1972
The report "Steam Vaporizers—Therapy or Tragedy," in the January 1972 issue, points out that little scientific data substantiates the use of these appliances. It must be conceded that practitioners, who measure their successes partly on their avoidance of hospitalizations, tend to follow well worn routines wearing blinders.
