Analysis of Dynamic Characteristics of Portal Frame with Variable Section

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
Combined with a portal frame design, by the use of finite element software ANSYS, the finite element model of single specimens of portal rigid frame and the overall portal rigid frame building are established.

Proportion and associated factors of maternal complications of cesarean sections among mothers who deliver at Bahir Dar City Public Specialized Hospitals, Bahir Dar, Ethiopia

open access: yesBMC Women's Health, 2023
Introduction Cesarean delivery carries both short term and long-term maternal complications. Eventhough it’s being a public burden, the proportion of complications and underlying risk factors are not studied well in our setup.

Measurement of the Drell-Yan triple-differential cross section in pp collisions at s=8 $$ \sqrt{s}=8 $$ TeV

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
This paper presents a measurement of the triple-differential cross section for the Drell-Yan process Z/γ * → ℓ + ℓ − where ℓ is an electron or a muon. The measurement is performed for invariant masses of the lepton pairs, m ℓℓ , between 46 and 200 GeV ...

Investigating health and social outcomes of the Big Local community empowerment initiative in England: a mixed method evaluation

open access: yesPublic Health Research, 2023
Background Most research on community empowerment provides evidence on engaging communities for health promotion purposes rather than attempts to create empowering conditions. This study addresses this gap.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Why human connection is the true metric of research success

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

Artificial Intelligence and Mental Well‐Being in Adult Education: Implications for Practice and Professional Responsibility

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mental well‐being is central to adult learner success, yet many adult education institutions lack capacity to provide timely and accessible support. This article examines how artificial intelligence (AI) can strengthen mental health–adjacent supports in adult and continuing higher education, with attention to professional practice and ...
