Analysis and Prediction of the Impact of Socio-Economic and Meteorological Factors on Rapeseed Yield Based on Machine Learning

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Rapeseed is one of China’s major oil crops, and accurate yield forecasting is crucial to the growth of the rapeseed industry and the country’s food security. In this study, the data on natural and socio-economic factors from 2001 to 2020 and the yield of

Cup‐Like Nuclei Is a Hallmark of DUX4/ERG Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and Reveals Cytoplasmic Mitochondria Accumulation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cup‐like nuclei are a distinctive morphological feature observed in certain cases of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). We provide evidence that they characterize DUX4/ERG ALL independently of IKZF1 deletion and reveal marked mitochondrial accumulation in this ALL subset.

Machine Learning for Predicting Field Soil Moisture Using Soil, Crop, and Nearby Weather Station Data in the Red River Valley of the North

open access: yesSoil Systems, 2021
Precise soil moisture prediction is important for water management and logistics of on-farm operations. However, soil moisture is affected by various soil, crop, and meteorological factors, and it is difficult to establish ideal mathematical models for ...

Targeted Learning for Variable Importance

open access: yesCoRR
Variable importance is one of the most widely used measures for interpreting machine learning with significant interest from both statistics and machine learning communities. Recently, increasing attention has been directed toward uncertainty quantification in these metrics.

On the Importance of Intraindividual Variability in Cognitive Development [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Intelligence, 2018
Developmental cognitive psychology (as well as cognitive psychology in general) has a long-standing tradition to ignore all variations other than age, as if individual variations were only measurement error or noise[...]

Genomic Diversity and Clinical Variability in Pediatric Primary Cutaneous Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma: A Case Series

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (pcALCL) is a rare pediatric CD30‐positive T‐cell lymphoproliferative disorder with an excellent prognosis, but its genomic drivers are poorly defined. We report three children with skin‐limited disease demonstrating striking molecular heterogeneity, including NPM::ALK, NUP214::FRK, and a novel ...

Discriminant analysis for repeated measures data: a review

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2010
Discriminant analysis (DA) encompasses procedures for classifying observations into groups (i.e., predictive discriminative analysis) and describing the relative importance of variables for distinguishing amongst groups (i.e., descriptive discriminative ...

The importance of pointer variables in constraint models [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 4th annual ACM symposium on User interface software and technology - UIST '91, 1991
Graphical tools are increasingly using constraints to specify the graphical layout and behavior of many parts of an application. However, conventional constraints directly encode the objects they reference, and thus cannot provide support for the dynamic rttntime creation and manipulation of application objects.

Identifying the key risk factors of traffic accident injury severity on Slovenian roads using a non-parametric classification tree

open access: yesTransport, 2017
From both a practical and economic point of view, road transport meets almost all the requirements of modern life, but it is also a source of numerous negative effects, including traffic accidents.

Correlation and variable importance in random forests [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics and Computing, 2016
This paper is about variable selection with the random forests algorithm in presence of correlated predictors. In high-dimensional regression or classification frameworks, variable selection is a difficult task, that becomes even more challenging in the presence of highly correlated predictors.
