EUVE J0854+390: a new Cataclysmic Variable

open access: yes, 2001
We report the identification of a new CV in the field of EUVE J0854+390. The optical spectra show Balmer, He I and He II lines strongly in emission and indicates the source is a CV, probably magnetic.Information Bulletin on Variable Stars 5032(1).

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The AH Pictoris Syndrome: Continuous Trains of Stunted Outbursts in Novalike Variables

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Novalike variables are a subgroup of cataclysmic variables (CVs) that—unlike dwarf novae—do not exhibit strong brightenings in their long-term light curves.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Variable Stars in M31 Stellar Clusters from the Panchromatic Hubble Andromeda Treasury

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Variable stars in stellar clusters can offer key constraints on stellar evolution and pulsation models, utilizing estimates of host cluster properties to constrain stellar physical parameters.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

ASASSN-16dv: Superhumps in a Long-period X-Ray-luminous Dwarf Nova

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Combining a long-term light curve, four-color rapid photometry, and spectroscopic and X-ray observations with a 27-day time base TESS light curve, we present the first dedicated study of ASASSN-16dv, detected as a transient in the All-Sky Automated ...

ABOUT THREE CATACLYSMIC VARIABLE STARS

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
In order to detect the new outbursts of the three cataclysmic variable TV Crv, NSV 1775, NSV 895, their positions was scanned on the plates of the Odessa collection of the sky service obtained for the period 1958 - 1988. The new outbursts were detected

Variable star status of two stars: V204 and I-I-39 in M3

open access: yes, 2007
The star I-I-42 (=vZ1390), a cluster member in M3, located near the red edge of the instability strip of the horizontal branch, was discovered by Roberts and Sandage as a low amplitude variable, it was designated as V204 in the "second catalogue of ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
