Broadband 1 × 3 Couplers With Variable Splitting Ratio Using Cascaded Step-Size MMI

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
In this paper, we propose and fabricated a novel scheme of SOI-based 1 × 3 coupler with variable splitting ratio. The coupler consists of two cascaded MMI with different sizes, and a wide range of splitting ratios from 1:0.1:1 to 1:18:1 can be ...

Symplectic difference systems: variable stepsize discretization and discrete quadratic functionals

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 2003
The authors consider the positivity and the nonnegativity of some discrete quadratic functionals with variable endpoints for variable stepsize symplectic difference systems. Seventeen theorems are given for the above-mentioned properties of such functionals in terms of conjugate intervals, conjoined bases, and implicit and explicit Riccati equations ...

Low-complexity variable step-size sign algorithm based on Weibull distribution function

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2018
The performance of the traditional second-order statistics based channel estimation methods degrade seriously in the presence of impulsive noises. In order to deal with this problem,a Weibull distribution function based variable step-size sign algorithm ...

Efficient preconditioning of the method of lines for solving nonlinear two-sided space-fractional diffusion equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A standard method for the numerical solution of partial differential equations (PDEs) is the method of lines. In this approach the PDE is discretised in space using finite di fferences or similar techniques, and the resulting semidiscrete problem in ...

A Variable Step-Size Proportionate Affine Projection Algorithm for Identification of Sparse Impulse Response

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2009
Proportionate adaptive algorithms have been proposed recently to accelerate convergence for the identification of sparse impulse response. When the excitation signal is colored, especially the speech, the convergence performance of proportionate NLMS ...

The starting procedure in variable-stepsize variable-order PECE codes

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1994
A modified starting procedure is proposed which improves on the efficiency of PECE variable stepsize variable order difference formulas for the numerical integration of initial value problems for systems of ordinary differential equations. The new procedure is based on the examinations of the behavior of a bound on the error propagation.

On the Stability of Variable Stepsize Rational Approximations of Holomorphic Semigroups [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Computation, 1994
We consider variable stepsize time approximations of holomorphic semigroups on general Banach spaces. For strongly A ( θ ) {\text {A}}(\theta ) -acceptable rational functions a general stability theorem is proved, which does not impose any constraint on the ratios between stepsizes.

Distributed Stochastic Optimization over Time-Varying Noisy Network

open access: yes, 2020
This paper is concerned with distributed stochastic multi-agent optimization problem over a class of time-varying network with slowly decreasing communication noise effects. This paper considers the problem in composite optimization setting which is more
