3-D Convection With Variable Viscosity [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 1991
Accepted 1990 September 6. Received 1990 July 16; in original form 1990 May 3 SUMMARY report numerical calculations for 3-D convection with variable viscosity. A hybrid spectral and finite difference method is used. The coupling of modes in the equation of motion, which is caused by lateral viscosity variations, is treated iteratively.

Continuous dependence for double diffusive convection in a Brinkman model with variable viscosity

open access: yesActa Universitatis Sapientiae: Mathematica, 2022
This current work is presented to deal with the model of double diffusive convection in porous material with variable viscosity, such that the equations for convective fluid motion in a Brinkman type are analysed when the viscosity varies with ...

Steady natural convection heat and mass transfer flow through a vertical porous channel with variable viscosity and thermal conductivity

open access: yesEngineering Reports, 2020
The present article studies the effects of suction/injection and variable physical properties on steady natural convection flow through a vertical channel. The investigation was done analytically using Differential Transformation Method (DTM).

Atmospheric Ekman Flows with Variable Eddy Viscosity [PDF]

open access: yesBoundary-Layer Meteorology, 2018
We revisit the classical problem of the behaviour of the wind in the steady atmospheric Ekman layer. We show, for general variable eddy viscosities, that in the Northern Hemisphere the time-averaged ageostrophic wind profile always decays in magnitude and turns clockwise with increasing height.

Incorporating variable viscosity in vorticity-based formulations for Brinkman equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this brief note, we introduce a non-symmetric mixed finite element formulation for Brinkman equations written in terms of velocity, vorticity and pressure with non-constant viscosity.

Numerical Solution of the Time-Dependent Navier–Stokes Equation for Variable Density–Variable Viscosity. Part I

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2015
We consider methods for the numerical simulations of variable density incompressible fluids, modelled by the Navier–Stokes equations. Variable density problems arise, for instance, in interfaces between fluids of different densities in multiphase flows ...

Electroosmosis-Optimized Thermal Model for Peristaltic Transportation of Thermally Radiative Magnetized Liquid with Nonlinear Convection

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
The present study addresses the heat transfer efficiency and entropy production of electrically conducting kerosene-based liquid led by the combined impact of electroosmosis and peristalsis mechanisms. Effects of nonlinear mixed convection heat transfer,

Godunov variables and convex entropy for relativistic fluid dynamics with bulk viscosity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Based on the conservation-dissipation formalism proposed by Zhu and collaborators we formulate a general version of the Israel-Stewart theory for relativistic fluid dynamics with bulk viscosity. Our generalization consists in allowing for a wide range of dependence of the entropy density on the bulk viscosity.

Variability of Saliva Viscosity - Potential Impact

open access: yes, 2022
As novel COVID-19 testing develops, saliva has become of increasing interest as an alternate biological sample for rapid testing. The appeal in saliva-based testing lies within the ease of which samples are collected, as well as patient comfort throughout the collection process.

Cooperative Shear Model for the Rheology of Glass-Forming Metallic Liquids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A rheological law based on the concept of cooperatively sheared flow zones is presented, in which the effective thermodynamic state variable controlling flow is identified to be the isoconfigurational shear modulus of the liquid.
