Solvability of the two-dimensional stationary incompressible inhomogeneous Navier-Stokes equations with variable viscosity coefficient [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We show the existence and the regularity properties of the weak solutions to the two-dimensional stationary incompressible inhomogeneous Navier-Stokes equations with variable viscosity coefficient, by analyzing a fourth-order nonlinear elliptic equation for the stream function.

Multigrid iterative algorithm using pseudo-compressibility for three-dimensional mantle convection with strongly variable viscosity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A numerical algorithm for solving mantle convection problems with strongly variable viscosity is presented. Equations for conservation of mass and momentum for highly viscous and incompressible fluids are solved iteratively by a multigrid method in combination with pseudo-compressibility and local time stepping techniques.

Effects of Shear Dependent Viscosity and Variable Thermal Conductivity on the Flow and Heat Transfer in a Slurry

open access: yesEnergies, 2015
In this paper we study the effects of variable viscosity and thermal conductivity on the heat transfer in the pressure-driven fully developed flow of a slurry (suspension) between two horizontal flat plates.

Machine learning prediction of antibody aggregation and viscosity for high concentration formulation development of protein therapeutics

open access: yesmAbs, 2022
Machine learning has been recently used to predict therapeutic antibody aggregation rates and viscosity at high concentrations (150 mg/ml). These works focused on commercially available antibodies, which may have been optimized for stability.

Soft‐Layered Composites with Wrinkling‐Activated Multi‐Linear Elastic Behavior, Stress Mitigation, and Enhanced Strain Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, exciting new bi‐/multi‐linear elastic behavior of soft elastic composites that accompany the activation of wrinkling in the embedded interfacial layers is analyzed. The new features and performance of these composite materials, including dramatic enhancements in energy storage, can be tailored by the concentration of interfacial layers ...

Variable-viscosity flows in heated and cooled channels

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 1977
An asymptotic description is given of Newtonian fluid flow in a channel which is suddenly heated or cooled. The viscosity is assumed to be purely a function of temperature. The asymptotic approximation is that the downstream viscosity at the channel wall differs by an order of magnitude from that in the upstream flow.

Modeling and numerical simulation of slurry flow / Modelagem e simulação numérica de escoamento de polpa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The objective of the present study was to implement distinct non-Newtonian fluid theories of heterogeneous mixture between water and minerals, aiming to identify the advantages and limitations of each model.

Cosmological model with viscosity media (dark fluid) described by an effective equation of state

open access: yes, 2005
A generally parameterized equation of state (EOS) is investigated in the cosmological evolution with bulk viscosity media modelled as dark fluid, which can be regarded as a unification of dark energy and dark matter. Compared with the case of the perfect
