One-dimensional adaptive grid generation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1997
In this work, we give an adaptive grid generation method which allows a single point to be added in the regions of large variation. This method uses a quadrature rule as a weight function.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Optimal Selection of the Regularization Function in a Weighted Total Variation Model. Part I: Modelling and Theory

open access: yes, 2017
A weighted total variation model with a spatially varying regularization weight is considered. Existence of a solution is shown, and the associated Fenchel predual problem is derived.

The Function And Early Ontogeny Of Individual Variation In Conspicuous Begging Behavior In A Passerine Bird

open access: yes, 2014
Increasingly, individual variation is being recognized as an important influence on behavioral evolution. Sources of variation are therefore an important target for research into the development, evolution, and function of behavior.

The reproductive performance of Bali cattle and it’s genetic variation

open access: yesJournal of Biological Researches, 2015
Bali cattle ( Bos sondaicus ) is one of the Indonesia native cattle which is the result of wild banteng domestication. The advantages of Bali cattle, among others, are having a high fertility rate (80-82%) and good adaptability to the new environment. It

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The quantitative genetic basis of sex ratio variation in Nasonia vitripennis : a QTL study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Our understanding of how natural selection should shape sex allocation is perhaps more developed than for any other trait. However, this understanding is not matched by our knowledge of the genetic basis of sex allocation.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Natural variation in acyl editing is a determinant of seed storage oil composition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Seeds exhibit wide variation in the fatty acid composition of their storage oil. However, the genetic basis of this variation is only partially understood.
