Variational methods in image processing

open access: yes, 2005

Variational models for image colorization via Chromaticity and Brightness decomposition

open access: yes, 2007
Colorization refers to an image processing task which recovers color in grayscale images when only small regions with color are given. We propose a couple of variational models using chromaticity color components to colorize black and white images.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Novel Explicit Iterative Approximation Schemes for Extended Hierarchical Variational Inequalities Involving Multiple Nonlinear Operators

open access: yesIEEE Access
In this study, we investigated an extended class of hierarchical variational inequalities (SEGHVIDs), i.e., generalized hierarchical variational inequalities with differentiable operators, in real Hilbert spaces.

Variational methods in image processing

open access: yes, 2009
This work presents some results in mathematics applied to imageprocessing by variational methods. Depending on the consideredimage processing problem, we propose a functional whose minimizercorresponds to the image we want to recover. On the one hand, we give some contributions to the mathematicalmodeling of images, and in particular of textures, and ...

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Multiplicity of solutions for discrete problems with double-well potentials

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
This article presents some multiplicity results for a general class of nonlinear discrete problems with double-well potentials. Variational techniques are used to obtain the existence of saddle-point type critical points.

Single image dehazing via decomposition and enhancement

open access: yesIET Image Processing
Hazy images suffer from two problems. The low contrast can be enhanced by estimating a transmission layer, and the colour cast can be restored by estimating an airlight.

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...
