Variation in Variation Measurement: A Mapping Review of Methods to Study Clinical Variation

open access: yesJournal of Evaluation in Clinical Practice
ABSTRACT Rationale Variation in health care delivery exists at many levels (e.g., provider, practice, system) and can often be explained by various factors at each level. Understanding clinical variation presents an opportunity to improve the value of health care by identifying low‐value care ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

PERONEUS TERTIUS: VARIATIONS AND CLINICAL APPLICATIONS IN GUJARATI POPULATION

open access: yesNational Journal of Medical Research, 2021
Introduction: Peroneus tertius (PT) is a muscle of the anterior compartment of the leg. The PT muscle originates from the anterior surface of the fibula and the interosseous membrane and inserts into the medial side of the dorsal region of the fifth ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Small area variations and welfare loss in the use of antibiotics in the community [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper seeks to explain local variations in the use of antibiotics in the community and to assess the welfare loss due to heterogeneous attitudes towards the risk of bacterial infections and resistance. Significant differences are observed in the per

Calculus of variations: A differential form approach

open access: yes
We study integrals of the form integral(Omega) f(d omega(1), ..., d omega(m)), where m >= 1 is a given integer, 1 R is a continuous function. We introduce the appropriate notions of convexity, namely vectorial ext.

Les frontières de la politique

open access: yes, 2012
Cette nouvelle livraison de Variations s’offre aux lecteurs alors que les frontières de la politique ont été malmenées et dérangées par les principaux candidats à la présidentielle, et qu’un homme a pu prendre le pouvoir grâce à un discours de rejet ...
