Geochemical and mineralogical features of the polymetallic deposit from Ali' (NE Sicily, Italy)

open access: yesAtti della Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti : Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali, 2007
The mineralization processes in the Peloritani Belt (Southern Sector of the Calabria- Peloritani Arc), related to Pre-Variscan intracontinental rifting, produced sedex-type Pb, Zn, F (Ag), Cu, W (As, Sb) ores.

Clay mineralogy, chemistry, and diagenesis of late devonian K-bentonite occurrences in northwestern Turkey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Thin beds of tephra (K-bentonites) formed by the diagenesis of volcanic ash are exposed within the limestone-dolomitic limestone successions of the Yilanli formation at Zonguldak and Bartin in northwestern Turkey.

Crustal Structure of Laurentia and Peri‐Gondwanan Terranes Beneath Ireland and Britain and Comparison With Eastern North America

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The Appalachian‐Caledonian orogen was built during the Paleozoic by accretion of peri‐Gondwanan terranes onto Laurentia, culminating in the formation of Pangea. During the Mesozoic, Pangea broke apart, displacing one section of the belt to eastern North America and another to northwestern Europe.

U-Pb geochronology of the El Jadida rhyolite and relation to possible Lower Cambrian recycling (Coastal block, Moroccan Meseta). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The El Jadida (Mazagan) dome, whose existence was reported as early as 1934 by Yovanovitch and Freys, constitutes one of the first outcrops of the Moroccan Meseta where the Precambrian (PIII?)-Paleozoic (Lower Cambrian?) boundary was established (Gigout,

Precambrian protoliths and Early Paleozoic magmatism in the French Massif Central: U–Pb data and the North Gondwana connection in the west European Variscan belt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
International audienceU–Pb geochronological data were collected on zircon by LA-MC-ICP-MS on orthogneiss and paragneiss from the Limousin area in the French Massif Central (FMC), in order to investigate the connection between the west European Variscan ...

Evolution and Provenance of the Polish Rotliegend in the Southern Permian Basin

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, Volume 131, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The Southern Permian Basin (SPB) has been extensively explored for ore deposits. However, a comprehensive evaluation of the remaining copper potential, specifically for sediment‐hosted stratiform copper system, remains lacking. This study applies goSPL, an open‐source landscape and stratigraphic evolution model, to reconstruct the Permian rift‐

The Geology as an indispensable tool for optimizing the exploration of dimension Stones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Like any Geological Resource, the Dimension Stones can only be exploited where they occur. How they occur is a reflection of geological history that presided over its formation.

Variscan orogeny in Corsica: new structural and geochronological insights, and its place in the Variscan geodynamic framework

open access: yes, 2014
International audienceIn Western Corsica, remnants of pre-batholitic lithological and metamorphic assemblages are preserved as km-scale septa enclosed within Lower Carboniferous to Early Permian plutons.

Rapid Transition From High‐Pressure Metamorphism to Exhumation Driven by Orogen‐Parallel Extensional Shearing (Adula Unit, Eastern Central Alps)

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract In the Central Alps, the Adula unit exposes high‐ and ultra‐high‐pressure (HP‐UHP) metamorphic rocks, providing key insights into the subduction and exhumation dynamics of the former distal European margin. We investigate the San Bernardino Shear Zone (SBSZ), a top‐to‐the‐east extensional shear zone developed within orthogneiss and paragneiss ...

Fammenian–Tournaisian dextral ductile shear in the French Variscan belt

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Géoscience, 2006
The South Armorican Shear Zone consists of a set of faults that runs across the southern Armorican Massif and extends eastwards to the Massif Central. One of its branches, the Cholet Shear Zone of South Brittany, can be correlated with the North-Millevaches–La Courtine Shear Zone in the Massif Central.
