Diagnosis and Management of an Intraorbital Vascular Fistula
Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 2012A spontaneous intraorbital arteriovenous fistula is an extremely rare phenomenon. More commonly, arteriovenous fistulas occur spontaneously as carotid cavernous fistulas and dural cavernous fistulas or are secondary to trauma. Surgical approaches vary widely and each carries their own set of potential problems.

Arteriovenous Fistula Salvage Utilizing a Hybrid Vascular Graft
The Journal of Vascular Access, 2013Introduction Loss of arteriovenous fistula as access for hemodialysis leads to significant morbidity and increased mortality risk. Methods Maintenance of this access is of paramount importance and we describe a case of a patient with a functioning radiocephalic fistula with associated arm swelling due to poor narrow caliber venous drainage above the ...

Prosthetic arteriovenous fistula for vascular access in hemodialysis
The American Journal of Surgery, 1976Vascular access through subcutaneous prosthetic arteriovenous fistulas was studied in eighteen dogs. Dacron velour and woven Dacron grafts (6 mm diameter) were constructed across the lower abdomen between the common femoral artery and the opposite common femoral vein.

Long-term hemodialysis remains the most important support for patients with ESRD, and reliable vascular access is an essential component of this management plan. Recent refinements in AV fistula surgical techniques have produced this dependable, well-tolerated, long-term access route for hemodialysis.

✓ Abnormal distribution of cerebral vascular flow was studied in a patient who had a traumatic carotid-cavernous sinus fistula. Serial studies were performed using a method for determining relative cerebral vascular flow: 99mtechnetium-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (99mTc-DTPA) was injected intravenously and flow data were processed by a digital ...

The reverse fistula for vascular access.
Surgery, gynecology & obstetrics, 1978A new technique for vascualr access in the patient requiring chronic hemodialysis and who has had multiple failures of forearm fistulas involves the formation of a side-to-side anastomosis between the brachial artery and the basilic vein and creates reverse flow into the antecubital venous system.

[Hemodialysis fistulas: possibilities of vascular ultrasound].
Der Radiologe, 2010Vascular ultrasound is an established technique in shunt diagnostics for hemodialysis fistulas that allows non-invasive diagnosis of vascular morphology and hemodynamics. Early detection of shunt stenoses in hemodialysis fistulas or thrombotic occlusions facilitates an interventional decision.

Vascular tinnitus and arteriovenous meningeal fistula.
Acta oto-rhino-laryngologica Belgica, 1989With the development of improved angiographic techniques, arteriovenous meningeal fistulas are being recognized more and more as an important cause of vascular tinnitus. Vascular tinnitus is generally considered to be objective and pulse-synchronous. This report concerns three cases of vascular tinnitus due to arteriovenous meningeal fistulas. They all

Vascular access: experience with the brachiocephalic fistula.
Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, 1987Eight years' experience with the brachiocephalic fistula for vascular access are reported. Eighty one fistulae were created in 77 patients. Forty one fistulae were created by an end to side anastomosis and 40 using a side to side technique. Overall patency was 70% at 1 year; 57% at 2 years; 50% at 3 years, which compares well with other secondary ...
