Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Tanshinone IIA accelerates zebrafish venous vascular repair via macrophage recruitment through the CXCR4A–CXCL12B signaling axis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundVascular injury is a major contributor to the development of cardiovascular diseases. Following vascular damage, macrophages migrate to the injury site and, during the later stages of vascular repair, secrete cytokines such as interleukin-10 ...

Vascular cytoprotection, autoimmune disease, and premature atherosclerosis

open access: yesIndian Journal of Rheumatology, 2018
A healthy vascular endothelium is critical to health, and interference with endothelial homeostasis disrupts hemostasis, regulation of vascular tone and blood pressure, leukocyte trafficking, angiogenesis and tissue repair.

Spatial and Volumetric Characteristics of Glioblastoma: Associations With Clinical Presentation and Survival

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective We aim to comprehensively analyze how regional tumor and edema characteristics are associated with clinical presentations and survival outcomes in a large cohort of glioblastoma patients. Methods Patients with IDH‐wildtype glioblastoma who received brain MRI from 2010 to 2023 were included.

Screening Routine Clinical Notes for Epilepsy Surgery Candidates Using Large Language Models

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epilepsy surgery is severely underutilized despite proven efficacy, with substantial under‐referral of eligible patients in routine clinical practice. This study evaluated the potential role of large language models (LLMs) as decision‐support tools for screening unstructured clinical notes to identify epilepsy surgery candidates and ...

Early Recognition of Treatment‐Responsive Rapidly Progressive Dementia: The Modified STAM3mP Score

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Early identification of patients with treatment‐responsive rapidly progressive dementia (RPD) is important as early treatment improves outcomes. The STAM3P score identifies treatment‐responsive RPD using “high risk” presenting features. We optimized performance by adding a time component (i.e., dementia within 3 months) and validated the ...

Novel long noncoding lncARF mediated hyperhomocysteinemia-induced atherosclerosis via autophagy inhibition in foam cells

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Research
Introduction: Homocysteine (Hcy) is well recognized to be an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging regulators of pathophysiological processes including atherosclerosis, while the underlying mechanisms of
