Improved Patency of an Elastomeric Vascular Graft by Hybridization

open access: yesASAIO Journal, 1992
A newly devised hybrid graft with high antithrombogenicity for small caliber vascular grafts was developed. The design concept was based on the incorporation of a compliant open cell structured graft, autogenous endothelial cells (ECs), and artificial basement membrane.

Timely thrombectomy can improve patency of hemodialysis arteriovenous fistulas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
[[abstract]]OBJECTIVE: The urgency with which salvage of thrombosed vascular accesses for dialysis should be attempted remains unknown. We examined the effect of a timely thrombectomy approach on vascular access outcomes for dialysis.

Risk factors associated with postoperative prosthetic graft patency in Leriche syndrome

open access: yesAsian Journal of Surgery, 2019
Background: In Leriche syndrome, postoperative graft thrombosis remains one of the most significant clinical challenges. Methods: We reviewed 51 patients who underwent surgery for aortoiliac occlusive disease at our hospital from January 2007 to December

Functionalization of in vivo tissue-engineered living biotubes enhance patency and endothelization without the requirement of systemic anticoagulant administration

open access: yesBioactive Materials, 2023
Vascular regeneration and patency maintenance, without anticoagulant administration, represent key developmental trends to enhance small-diameter vascular grafts (SDVG) performance.

Improvement in experimental vascular graft patency by controlled defibrinogenation

open access: yesJournal of British Surgery, 1977
Abstract A sensitive animal model was used to investigate treatment designed to improve vascular graft patency. A Dacron graft was inserted into the infrarenal vena cava of 30 rabbits. Half were treated with subcutaneous Arvin for 28 days after operation. This produced a significant lowering of the postoperative plasma fibrinogen.

Long-term patency of small-diameter vascular graft made from fibroin, a silk-based biodegradable material [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
ObjectiveThere is an increasing need for vascular grafts in the field of surgical revascularization. However, smaller vascular grafts made from synthetic biomaterials, particularly those

Acellular Human Placenta Small-Diameter Vessels as a Favorable Source of Super-Microsurgical Vascular Replacements: A Proof of Concept

open access: yesBioengineering, 2023
In this study, we aimed to evaluate the human placenta as a source of blood vessels that can be harvested for vascular graft fabrication in the submillimeter range. Our approach included graft modification to prevent thrombotic events.

A multicenter study of permanent hemodialysis access patency: Beneficial effect of clipped vascular anastomotic technique. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Objective: There is an urgent and compelling need to reduce the morbidity and expense of maintaining hemodialysis vascular access patency. This large, long-term, retrospective, multicenter study, which compared access patency of autogenous arteriovenous ...

Patients, healthcare providers, and general population preferences for hemodialysis vascular access: a discrete choice experiment

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundA patient-centered dialysis treatment option requires an understanding of patient preferences for alternative vascular accesses and nephrologists often face difficulties when recommending vascular access to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD ...

Good Long Term Patency Rates Associated with an Alternative Technique in Vascular Access Surgery – The Adductor Loop Arteriovenous Graft [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
IntroductionWe have modified the arteriovenous groin loop procedure and present a technique associated with good patency rates and low infection rates.MethodsWe describe an alternative femoro-femoral arteriovenous loop technique which utilises the mid ...
