Complement activation and vascular injury in systemic lupus erythematosus.

The Journal of rheumatology. Supplement, 1987
The deposition of immune complexes within blood vessel walls results in the potential for complement activation and the release of chemotactic factors, such as fragments of C5 (C5fr). The generation of C5fr results in the intravascular aggregation of neutrophils with subsequent leukostatic occlusion of the pulmonary arterioles.

Virtual blunt injury of human thorax: age-dependent response of vascular system

Russian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling, 2015
AbstractThis work is the numerical study of the age-dependent responses of the vascular system under low-mass high-speed impact scenario. The grid-characteristic method on the adaptive mesh model of the human thorax is the numerical tool of the study.

Systemic Loss of FKBPL Uncovers Diabetes-Dependent Pathways of Myocardial and Vascular Injury

Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology
BACKGROUND: Impaired angiogenesis underpins cardiovascular disease, particularly in people with diabetes; however, molecular mechanisms are still poorly understood. This study aims to decipher the role of an emerging antiangiogenic protein, FKBPL (FK506-binding protein–like), on cardiac structure and function ...
