Broadening the View: Substance P and Its Metabolism in Pruritus‐Related Diseases

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, Volume 53, Issue 7, Page 967-979, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Chronic pruritus is a debilitating symptom accompanying numerous inflammatory skin diseases and remains a major therapeutic challenge. Neurogenic inflammation plays a central role in its pathogenesis, with the tachykinin substance P acting as a key mediator at the interface of the nervous system, immune cells, and cutaneous tissues.

Endothelial Netrin‐4 regulates oligodendrocyte precursor cell proliferation and differentiation via ET‐1 signaling in preterm white matter injury

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 4, July 2026.
Our findings show early increased Netrin‐4 in mice with PWMI boosts angiogenesis and OPCs proliferation. Later, high levels hinder OPCs differentiation into mature cells, impairing myelination. It may act by stimulating ET‐1 secretion. Abstract Perinatal hypoxia–ischemia is a leading cause of preterm white matter injury (PWMI), yet mechanisms ...

Characteristics, management, and outcomes of patients with VIPoma–A retrospective analysis of the ENETS database

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 38, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Introduction: VIPoma is an extremely rare functioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor. Therefore, data regarding treatment and outcome are very limited. Aim (s): This multicenter study aimed to analyze clinical characteristics, real‐world management, and outcomes of patients with VIPoma.

Beyond Hemostasis: Platelet Biomarkers and Vascular‐Immune Crosstalk in Dengue

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 12, 30 June 2026.
Several biomarkers are associated with platelet activation during dengue virus (DENV) infection. These include serum markers (AST, ALT, ferritin), platelet surface or secreted molecules (P‐selectin, PF4, RANTES, VEGF‐A, CD40L, TREM‐1, TLT‐1), immune and endothelial markers (TREM‐1, Ang‐1, Ang‐2), and viral components such as DENV EIII.

Microbial Metabolite‐Stimulated Bitter Taste Receptor T2R14 Signaling Is Modulated by CFTR Interactions

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Bitter taste receptors (T2Rs) play an important role in physiological and cellular responses. Bitter tasting chemicals and microbial metabolites can bind to T2R14, which enables interactions between T2R14 and specific intracellular domains of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) anion channel.

Neuronal reprogramming of mouse and human fibroblasts using transcription factors involved in suprachiasmatic nucleus development

open access: yesiScience
Summary: The hypothalamic suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) is composed of heterogenous populations of neurons that express signaling peptides such as vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) and arginine vasopressin (AVP) and regulate circadian rhythms in ...

Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide Secreting MS Neuroblastoma

open access: yesJournal of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons
We present a rare case of a 17-month-old child diagnosed with MS-stage neuroblastoma and associated chronic diarrhea due to elevated vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) levels.
