Differential Impact of Polymyxin B Hemadsorption on Long‐Term Mortality in Septic Shock: A Retrospective Analysis of Intra‐Abdominal Versus Extra‐Abdominal Infections

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
In this single‐center retrospective cohort study, the use of PMX‐HA was significantly associated with a reduced risk of 1‐year mortality in patients with septic shock due to intra‐abdominal infection. In contrast, no significant association was observed between PMX‐HA use and 1‐year mortality risk in patients with septic shock caused by extra‐abdominal

Tau‐targeting active immunotherapy slows progression and reduces pathology in mouse models of tauopathy

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
The efficacy of the novel anti‐tau active immunotherapy, p5555kb, was tested using two mouse models of tau pathology. p5555kb inoculation increased the survival rate and reduced tau pathology in tau‐overexpressing P301L mice and decreased tau seeding in the brains of C57BL/6 mice injected with human‐purified Alzheimer's disease tau.

Treatment options for immune‐related adverse events associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract The immunotherapy revolution with the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) started with the clinical use of the first ICI, ipilimumab, in 2011. Since then, the field of ICI therapy has rapidly expanded — with the FDA approval of 10 different ICI drugs so far and their incorporation into the therapeutic regimens of a range of malignancies.

Roles of vasopressin in renal blood flow and vascular resistance in male mice after treadmill running: A mechanism for ALPE

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
Acute renal failure with severe loin pain and patchy renal ischemia after high‐intensity exercise (ALPE) is a rare form of acute kidney injury. This study examined the role of vasopressin and its receptor, AVPR1A, in ALPE using a mouse model of brief ...

Molecular Aspect of Annelid Neuroendocrine system

open access: yes, 2007
Hormonal processes along with enzymatic processing similar to that found in vertebrates occur in annelids. Amino acid sequence determination of annelids precursor gene products reveals the presence of the respective peptides that exhibit high sequence ...

Molecular Aspects of Secretory Granule Exocytosis by Neurons and Endocrine Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Neuronal communication and endocrine signaling are fundamental for integrating the function of tissues and cells in the body. Hormones released by endocrine cells are transported to the target cells through the circulation.
