Protection of fundamental human rights by improving patient access to plasma‐derived therapies and donor health protection

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives The main use of plasma has evolved into market‐driven plasma‐derived medicinal products (PDMPs), but it still requires donors. Availability of PDMPs in access to care is often considered restrictively, in terms of volumes of plasma required for production and whether or not to remunerate donors.

Organizational monitoring of patient blood management implementation: Results of an Italian national survey

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Patient blood management (PBM) as a standard‐of‐care approach, sustained by substantial scientific literature, is now widely supported by national and international recommendations and guidelines. Scientific evidence shows that PBM is a strategic tool for improving clinical outcomes, quality of life and patient safety,

Optimum Resource Allocation of Database in Cloud Computing

open access: yesEgyptian Informatics Journal, 2014
Cloud computing is a new generation of computing based on virtualization technology. An important application on the cloud is the Database Management Systems (DBMSs). The work in this paper concerns about the Virtual Design Advisor (VDA).

Restriction‐Weighted Q‐Space Trajectory Imaging (ResQ): Toward Mapping Diffusion‐Time Effects With Tensor‐Valued Diffusion Encoding in Human Prostate Cancer Xenografts

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 8, August 2026.
Tensor‐valued diffusion MRI enables microstructure characterization but can be confounded by the presence of restricted diffusion. We introduce ResQ, a framework that incorporates restriction weighting into q‐space trajectory imaging and we evaluate it in a longitudinal study of prostate cancer xenografts treated by external radiotherapy. ResQ revealed

The effects of the model errors generated by discretization of 'on-off'' processes on VDA [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2006
Through an idealized model of a partial differential equation with discontinuous 'on-off'' switches in the forcing term, we investigate the effect of the model error generated by the traditional discretization of discontinuous physical 'on-off ...

Arsenic Trioxide as a Vascular Disrupting Agent: Synergistic Effect with Irinotecan on Tumor Growth Delay in a CT26 Allograft Model

open access: yesTranslational Oncology, 2013
The mechanism of action of arsenic trioxide (ATO) has been shown to be complex, influencing numerous signal transduction pathways and resulting in a vast range of cellular effects.

Delivery of nano‐formulated drugs to solid tumours is selectively increased by co‐application of the vascular disrupting agent CA4P

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 16, Page 4663-4674, August 2026.
Background and purpose Nano‐formulated chemotherapeutics prolong systemic availability of drugs and can reduce systemic toxicity, but their accumulation in solid tumours is often limited and unpredictable. Broadly applicable strategies to selectively enhance tumour delivery are lacking.

Could the Visual Differential Attention Be a Referential Gesture? A Study on Horses (Equus caballus) on the Impossible Task Paradigm

open access: yesAnimals, 2018
In order to explore the decision-making processes of horses, we designed an impossible task paradigm aimed at causing an expectancy violation in horses.

Feasibility of Estimating Turbulent Heat Fluxes via Variational Assimilation of Reference-Level Air Temperature and Specific Humidity Observations

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
This study investigated the feasibility of partitioning the available energy between sensible (H) and latent (LE) heat fluxes via variational assimilation of reference-level air temperature and specific humidity.

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 7, Page 1370-1386, July 2026.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.
