Neural Vector Conceptualization for Word Vector Space Interpretation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Distributed word vector spaces are considered hard to interpret which hinders the understanding of natural language processing (NLP) models. In this work, we introduce a new method to interpret arbitrary samples from a word vector space. To this end, we train a neural model to conceptualize word vectors, which means that it activates higher order ...

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Integral transformation solution of free-space cylindrical vector beams and prediction of modified-Bessel-Gaussian vector beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A unified description of the free-space cylindrical vector beams is presented, which is an integral transformation solution to the vector Helmholtz equation and the transversality condition. The amplitude 2-form of the angular spectrum involved in this solution can be arbitrarily chosen.

Back to Basics: Are Begomoviruses Whitefly Pathogens?

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2012
Begomoviruses and whiteflies have interacted for geological times. An assumed long-lasting virus-vector intimate relationship of this magnitude implies that the partners have developed co-evolutionary mechanisms that insure on one hand the survival and ...

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

Local and global holomorphic extensions of time-varying real analytic vector fields [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
In this paper, we consider time-varying real analytic vector fields as curves on the space of real analytic vector fields. Using a suitable topology on the space of real analytic vector fields, we study and characterize different properties of time-varying real analytic vector fields. We study holomorphic extensions of time-varying real analytic vector

Vector-Valued Support Vector Regression [PDF]

open access: yesThe 2006 IEEE International Joint Conference on Neural Network Proceedings, 2006
A vector-valued extension of the support vector regression problem is presented here. The vector-valued variant is developed by extending the notions of the estimator, loss function and regularization functional from the scalar-valued case. A particular emphasis is placed on the class of loss functions chosen which apply the epsiv-insensitive loss ...
