Manipulation of Energy Flow with X-Type Vortex
In this study, a new method for manipulating energy flow in a 3D vector field is proposed. In this method, an azimuthally-polarized beam with a noncanonical vortex, the X-type vortex, is focused in a high-numerical aperture system.

Orbital angular momentum: origins, behavior and applications [PDF]
As they travel through space, some light beams rotate. Such light beams have angular momentum. There are two particularly important ways in which a light beam can rotate: if every polarization vector rotates, the light has spin; if the phase structure ...

Switchable phase and polarization singular beams generation using dielectric metasurfaces
Singular beams which possess helical phase wavefront or spatially inhomogeneous polarization provide new freedom for optical field manipulation. However, conventional schemes to produce the singular beams have difficulty in realizing the flexible switch ...

Integrated multi vector vortex beam generator
A novel method to generate and manipulate vector vortex beams in an integrated, ring resonator based geometry is proposed. We show numerically that a ring resonator, with an appropriate grating, addressed by a vertically displaced access waveguide emits a complex optical field.

Hybrid generation and analysis of vector vortex beams
A method is described for generating optical vector vortex beams carrying superpositions of orbital angular momentum states by using a tandem application of a spatial light modulator with a vortex retarder. The vortex component has a spatially inhomogeneous phase front that can carry orbital angular momentum, and the vector nature is a spatially ...

Extraction of Inherent Polarization Modes from an m‐Order Vector Vortex Beam
Superposition of two independent orthogonally polarized beams is a conventional principle of creating a new light beam. Herein, it is intended to achieve the inverse process, namely, extracting inherent polarization modes from a single light beam ...
