A Simple, Safe, and Effective Method for Preparing Autologous Bio-Based Fibrin Glue for Ophthalmic Use

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
This study proposes a method to prepare autologous bio-based fibrin glue (FG) for use in ophthalmic surgery. FGs containing three fibrinogen concentrations and a thrombin concentrate were prepared using human blood from five donors (FG1: physiological ...

Adaptive Twisting Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces torque‐controlled twisting metamaterials as a transformative platform for adaptive crashworthiness. By combining multiscale predictive modeling with experimental validation on additively manufactured gyroids, it demonstrates tunable stiffness, collapse stress, and energy absorption.

High-contrast Imaging with Spitzer: Deep Observations of Vega, Fomalhaut, and epsilon Eridani

open access: yes, 2014
Stars with debris disks are intriguing targets for direct imaging exoplanet searches, both due to previous detections of wide planets in debris disk systems, as well as commonly existing morphological features in the disks themselves that may be ...

Study of a Novel Bi‐Layered Thermoplastic Polyurethane Patch for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Large congenital diaphragmatic hernia remains a challenge due to the poor compatibility of current prostheses. To tackle this problem, a bilayer thermoplastic polyurethane patch with tunable mechanical properties is engineered, whose fibrous side supports rapid fibroblast and myoblast colonization, while the smooth film limits adhesions.

Amido‐Amine Co(II) Precursor‐Based Atomic/Molecular Layer Deposition Processes for Cobalt‐Organic Thin Films and Their Thermal Conversion to CoO Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Three new atomic/molecular layer deposition processes are developed for Co‐organic thin films using a promising all‐nitrogen‐coordinated cobalt precursor. The study examines film growth, reaction mechanisms, chemical stability, and decomposition pathways of the resulting films through extensive characterization techniques and DFT calculations ...

Liver Stiffness Directs Intrahepatic Cholesterol Accumulation Through YAP/TAZ in Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liver stiffness promotes intrahepatic cholesterol accumulation by repressing LXRα through YAP/TAZ activation. Stiff matrices impair cholesterol efflux in hepatocytes, while YAP/TAZ deletion restores LXRα activity and prevents cholesterol‐induced fibrosis.

Ejecta‐Modulated Bubble Dynamics Play a Dominant Role in Stone Retropulsion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stone motion during laser ablation is shown to result primarily from asymmetric cavitation bubble collapse, not from ejecta recoil. This challenges long‐standing assumptions and highlights the dominant role of bubble dynamics in laser–material interactions.
