RNAi-Mediated Management of Whitefly Bemisia tabaci by Oral Delivery of Double-stranded RNAs

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
The whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) is a significant global pest of economically important vegetable, fibre, and ornamental crops. Whiteflies directly damage the plants by piercing and sucking essential nutrients, indirectly through ...

Reduced fertilization regimes could boost biocontrol service without reducing crop yield

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Fertilization level influences pest control effectiveness in tomato crops. High fertilization increases plant growth and aphid density but reduces the performance of the parasitoid Aphidius ervi. In contrast, the predator Adalia bipunctata maintains consistent aphid suppression regardless of fertilization regime.

TcALS knockdown accelerates metamorphosis via insulin signaling in Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
RNAi silencing of TcALS accelerates larva‐to‐pupa metamorphosis in Tribolium castaneum. Abstract Insect metamorphosis is an evolutionary adaptation precisely regulated by nutritional and hormonal cues. The red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum, a major stored‐product pest, serves as an excellent model for studying this process.

Diversity and Abundance of Drosophilid Fruit Flies and Other Insects in Compost Piles [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Protection Research
Compost piles serve as important habitats for various insect groups, including decomposers, predators, and parasitoids. While drosophilid fruit flies play a crucial role in organic matter recycling, the variation of their abundance and diversity in ...

Degree of insecticide exposure and access to nectar impact survival of Trissolcus japonicus, a hymenopteran parasitoid, in flowering border strips

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
We applied three thiamethoxam spray treatments to buckwheat border strips: control (no nearby spray), drift (adjacent peach trees directly sprayed) and direct spray (buckwheat and peaches directly sprayed). Drift‐treated buckwheat received about 1.4% the amount of thiamethoxam as direct‐spray buckwheat. This amount has no lethal effects on parasitoids,

Efeitos de extratos alcoólicos de plantas sobre o caruncho do feijão vigna (Callosobruchus maculatus) Effect of alcoholic extract of plants on weevil of cowpea (Callosobruchus maculatus)
