Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment, 1988Abstract This paper reviews the literature concerning the protection of vegetable and specialty crops by windbreaks. There is overwhelming evidence to support and illustrate the positive benefits of shelter. Most benefits occur within 10 h on the leeward side (maximum 3–6 h ), or within 0–3 h on the windward side.
