Few studies have examined in detail weaning practices and how mothers introduce vegetables into the diets of their infants. The current exploratory study set out to use both qualitative and quantitative methods to investigate approaches to nutrition in the weaning period and in early infancy with a particular focus on vegetables.

Horizontal propagation through periodic vegetation canopies
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1991Electromagnetic wave propagation through vegeta- tion media has traditionally been modeled using random-media volume scattering approaches, such as the radiative transfer technique. Although such techniques have proven suitable for natural vegetation covers, experimental data suggest that a semideterministic technique is needed to model certain man ...

Radar response of periodic vegetation canopies
International Journal of Remote Sensing, 1994Abstract Vector radiative transfer theory is used to model the scattered intensity from a layer of randomly oriented particles over a periodic rough surface. To account for the periodic nature of row-structured vegetation, the number density of particles within the layer is assumed to be varying periodically in the horizontal direction.

Enhancing the acoustic absorption of vegetation with embedded periodic metamaterials
Applied Acoustics, 2021Abstract The sound absorption of vegetation with embedded periodic metamaterials is investigated numerically and experimentally. Acoustical property of the vegetation can be described as that in a porous material. The physical parameters of vegetation in the numerical study are obtained by fitting the measured reflection and transmission coefficients

Vegetation at the Time of the African Humid Period
2017An orbitally induced increase in summer insolation during the last glacial-interglacial transition enhanced the thermal contrast between land and sea, with land masses heating up compared to the adjacent ocean surface. In North Africa, warmer land surfaces created a low-pressure zone, driving the northward penetration of monsoonal rains originating ...

Potassium content of grapevine during the vegetative period: The role of the rootstock
Journal of Plant Nutrition, 1994Abstract The role of rootstock in the potassium (K) content of Croatina grapevines was investigated in a replicated rootstock trial on a sandy clay loam soil in Oltrepo Pavese, Italy. Each rootstock was significatively different in terms of K absorption ability.

Vegetation changes in a shallow African Lake: Response of the vegetation to a recent dry period
Hydrobiologia, 1975This paper shows how the bed of Lake Chilwa in Malawi was colonised by plants during a recent dry period. Aeschynomene pfundii and Diplachne fusca were the principal colonising species on the alkaline mud flats. The subsequent changes in the vegetation after the lake refilled are described.
