Satellite hindcasts of foliar traits reveal a subtle but consistent relaxation of conservativeness in a biodiverse mountain grassland over the last four decades

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Projected warming and drying raise concerns about the resilience of stress‐adapted ecosystems, including the Brazilian Campo Rupestre, an exceptionally biodiverse mountaintop grassland mosaic on ancient, nutrient‐poor substrates. Here, we combine field‐based trait data and long‐term remote sensing to assess the functional structure and temporal ...

Vegetative Propagation of Cucumber1

open access: yesHortScience, 1974
Abstract Shoot tip cuttings of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) taken at various times, ages, and condition were subjected to several pre- and post-selection techniques known to influence rooting in other species. Succinic acid-2,2-dimethylhydrazide (SADH) applied 1 week before shoot tip harvest increased the rooting of cuttings.

Spatial distribution of acoustic traits in bird assemblages along regional bioclimatic gradients

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Environmental variation shapes acoustic interactions among birds, creating spatial structures in the sonic signature of local species assemblages. Exploring these patterns at regional scales can reveal processes that segregate acoustic strategies along environmental gradients.

By‐product of heparin extraction as a sustainable alternative to enhance the use of nitrogen in agriculture

open access: yesEnvironmental Progress &Sustainable Energy, EarlyView.
Abstract This study evaluates the potential of a new organic fertilizer derived from porcine intestinal mucosa (designated BHE), a by‐product of the heparin extraction process, as a sustainable nitrogen (N) source for agriculture. The work was conducted in two stages: (i) chemical and spectroscopic characterization of BHE compared with poultry litter ...

Short term effects of irradiance on the growth of Pterocladiella capillacea (Gelidiales, Rhodophyta) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Pterocladiella capillacea has been economically exploited for agar extraction in the Azores for many years. Harvesting dropped to a full stop in the early 1990s due to a population collapse, but restarted in 2013.

Low clonal propagation in Atlantic and Mediterranean populations of the red gorgonian Paramuricea clavata (Octocorallia) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Clonal propagation is a common feature of benthic marine organisms. In the present study, we investigated the contribution of clonal reproduction in the red gorgonian Paramuricea clavata. Mediterranean populations of P.

Ictal semiology in fronto‐opercular epilepsy: A systematic review

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract A systematic review of the ictal semiology of fronto‐opercular seizures in focal epilepsy was carried out to assess possible anatomical‐clinical correlations and help guide interpretation of ictal semiology during pre‐surgical evaluation. PubMed and Embase databases were searched using the following keywords: “fronto‐opercular OR frontal ...

The California clean grape stock program

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1980
Grape plants live for many years, and we might say, if we consider vegetative propagation, that they live for centuries. Vegetative propagation, which perpetuates the mother plant by cuttings or buds, is important for maintaining trueness of grape ...

VEGETATIVE PROPAGATION OF THREE SPECIES OF BAMBOO [PDF]

open access: yesRa Ximhai, 2011
The obtaining of good quality plants for mass production of bamboo is an important factor due to the conventional methods of spreading have been little studied and limited their spreading.

Ecology and conservation of Alseuosmia quercifolia (Alseuosmiaceae) in the Waikato region, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The ecology of Alseuosmia quercifolia, a small endemic shrub, was investigated, focussing on its habitat requirements, population dynamics, phenology and reproductive biology, and conservation status.
