Instrumental activation analysis of vegetable tissue
Talanta, 1967A non-destructive method for the determination of bromine, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc in plant tissue by neutron activation and gamma-ray spectrometry is described. Phosphorus and potassium have been determined also by beta-counting. The method should be especially attractive for analysis of manganese and zinc.

RNA Extraction from Cereal Vegetative Tissue
2013Ribonucleic acid (RNA) extraction is the necessary first step in many protocols, primarily to investigate genes and gene expression. RNA comes in a variety of forms: total RNA, ribosomal RNA, messenger RNA (mRNA), and small interfering RNA (siRNA) to name a few.

Vegetable oils instead of xylene in tissue processing
APMIS, 1992In an effort to improve working conditions in the histopathologic laboratory, we have investigated whether less toxic substances may be substituted for the toxic organic solvent xylene currently in use. Xylene is used in the clearing as well as the deparaffinization process. We have tested whether the substitution of xylene by olive oil and coconut oil

Unconjugated Man5GlcNAc occurs in vegetative tissues of tomato
Phytochemistry, 1996Unconjugated Man alpha 1-->6(Man alpha 1-->3)Man alpha 1-->6(Man alpha 1-->3)Man beta 1-->4GlcNAc (Man5Glc NAc) delayed ripening when added exogenously at 10 ng g-1 fr. wt to both whole tomato fruit and excised pericarp tissue discs. In addition, Man5GlcNAc was one of 10 unconjugated N-glycans purified from tomato pericarp tissue.
