Peculiarities of serum levels of vascular growth factor and its receptors in dialysis patients

open access: yesУкраїнський Журнал Нефрології та Діалізу, 2022
Recent research has shown that VEGF may influence the condition and survival of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including those treated with dialysis procedures.

Mutated TP53 is a marker of increased VEGF expression: analysis of 7,525 pan-cancer tissues. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Anti-angiogenic therapies are an important class of anti-cancer treatment drugs. However, their efficacy is limited to certain tumors and would benefit from identifying a biomarker predictive of therapeutic response.

Hepatocellular carcinoma and multidrug resistance: Past, present and new challenges for therapy improvement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common malignancy of the liver and the third cause of cancer death worldwide. Chronic hepatitis due to HBV and HCV infection are two major risk factors for HCC worldwide.

Comprehensive profiling of lncRNAs and mRNAs enriched in small extracellular vesicles for early noninvasive detection of colorectal cancer: diagnostic panel assembly and extensive validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Small extracellular vesicles are a promising source of diagnostic molecules. We conducted a comprehensive study, including transcriptome profiling and RT‐qPCR validation on large cohorts of samples. Diagnostic panels enabling sensitive detection of colorectal cancer and precancerous lesions were established. Some molecules were differentially expressed

Engineered microenvironments for synergistic VEGF - integrin signalling during vascularization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We have engineered polymer-based microenvironments that promote vasculogenesis both in vitro and in vivo through synergistic integrin-growth factor receptor signalling. Poly(ethyl acrylate) (PEA) triggers spontaneous organization of fibronectin (FN) into

VEGF and VEGF Receptor Expression in Human Chronic Critical Limb Ischaemia [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2004
This study quantified endogenous VEGF and VEGF receptor expression in limbs of patients with chronic critical limb ischaemia (CLI).Skin and muscle biopsies were obtained from the legs of 25 patients undergoing limb amputation for CLI. Samples were obtained at the amputation level (thigh or calf) and, distally, from the foot and in the vicinity of ...

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

VEGF121, a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) isoform lacking heparin binding ability, requires cell-surface heparan sulfates for efficient binding to the VEGF receptors of human melanoma cells

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1995
Four vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) splice variants containing 121, 165, 189, and 206 amino acids are produced from a single human gene as a result of alternative splicing. VEGF121 is not a heparin-binding protein, while the other VEGF species

VEGF Receptors and Glomerular Function [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Society of Nephrology, 2010
In this issue of JASN , Sison et al. 1 build on previous work from their group demonstrating the necessity of intact podocyte expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in preventing progressive glomerular endothelial damage and proteinuria in mice.2,3 This study adds to these findings by using compound transgenic mice to ask which ...

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.
