System for Detecting Vehicle Features from Low Quality Data

open access: yesPromet (Zagreb), 2018
The paper presents a system that recognizes the make, colour and type of the vehicle. The classification has been performed using low quality data from real-traffic measurement devices.

Vehicle Detection in Aerial Images

open access: yesCoRR, 2018
The detection of vehicles in aerial images is widely applied in many applications. Comparing with object detection in the ground view images, vehicle detection in aerial images remains a challenging problem because of small vehicle size, monotone appearance and the complex background.

Synthesis of the porous Co–N-doped carbon catalysts as a durable cathode for zinc–air battery

open access: yesScientific Reports
Due to the exceptional ORR catalytic activity and stability, cobalt and nitrogen-doped carbon (Co–N–C) catalysts are regarded as highly promising candidates for cathode catalysts in zinc–air batteries.

Evolving boxes for fast vehicle detection [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME), 2017
We perform fast vehicle detection from traffic surveillance cameras. A novel deep learning framework, namely Evolving Boxes, is developed that proposes and refines the object boxes under different feature representations. Specifically, our framework is embedded with a light-weight proposal network to generate initial anchor boxes as well as to early ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Denoising method for X-ray images with poisson-Gaussian noise based on a new threshold function and shearlet transform

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Research and Applied Sciences
Background: X-ray imaging has been applied in various fields. However, the noise in X-ray images reduces the image quality and affects subsequent detection.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Vehicle pose estimation for vehicle detection and tracking based on road direction

open access: yesIJAIN (International Journal of Advances in Intelligent Informatics), 2017
Vehicle has several types and each of them has different color, size, and shape. The appearance of vehicle also changes if viewed from different viewpoint of traffic surveillance camera.
