A WENO Finite‐Volume Scheme for the Evolution of Potential Vorticity in Isopycnal Ocean Models
Abstract Ocean circulations are strongly constrained by rotation and stratification, making potential vorticity (PV) a key dynamical property. Specifically, PV is conserved following water parcels in the absence of diabatic forcing and friction—a desirable feature for isopycnal ocean models.

Abstract East Pacific easterly waves (EPEWs) are critical precursors to tropical cyclogenesis and regional rainfall yet are poorly captured in subseasonal‐to‐seasonal (S2S) forecast models. This study evaluates how EPEWs are simulated in NOAA's Unified Forecast System (UFS) Prototypes 5–8 during May‐October relative to ERA5 reanalysis, using wave ...

Dq Analysis Of 3D Natural Convection In An Inclined Cavity Using An Velocity-Vorticity Formulation
In this paper, the differential quadrature method is applied to simulate natural convection in an inclined cubic cavity using velocity-vorticity formulation. The numerical capability of the present algorithm is demonstrated by application to natural convection in an inclined cubic cavity.

A Post‐Launch Assessment of the Noise Level of the Ka‐Band Radar Interferometer From SWOT
Abstract Quantifying the noise level of SWOT's Ka‐band Radar Interferometer (KaRIn) is essential for interpreting submesoscale (≤100 km) ocean variability from the mission's two‐dimensional swath measurements. Using 21 months (cycles 001–032; July 2023–April 2025) of the Level‐2 KaRIn Low‐Rate Unsmoothed sea surface height product (250 m posting), we ...

Are West African Heat‐Lows Analogous to Dry Tropical Cyclones?
Heat‐lows qualitatively resemble dry tropical cyclones (TCs), though their underlying physics has yet to be compared. In this study, we show that West African transient heat‐low climatology correlates well with TC potential intensity generalised over land.

Numerical investigation of fluid flow in a T-shaped lid-driven cavity by CFD
The present research aims at providing a numerical fluid flow prediction of the less explored T-shaped lid-driven cavity problem. It is solved two ways, first using a finite-difference-method-based vorticity-stream function formulation that is applied to

Abstract The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite provides a groundbreaking view of sea surface height (SSH) across a 120‐km‐wide swath (20‐km nadir gap), opening new opportunities to reconstruct vertical velocities (w) $(w)$. Vertical motions play a central role in redistributing properties, influencing climate and ecosystems. Using the

Abstract Spring heat extremes over northern India in March coincide with critical wheat growth and pose disproportionate risks to yield and food security. March surface temperatures are modulated by Western Disturbances (WDs), midlatitude cyclonic systems embedded in the subtropical jet that typically bring rain and cooling.
