Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 13, 8 July 2026.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Influence of non-linear motion on mixed convection in viscous fluids with temperature-dependent thermal conductivity and oscillating thermal wave

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics
This study investigates the effects of non-linear motion on mixed convection viscous fluid flow, incorporating thermal conductivity inversely proportional to a linear function of temperature under the influence of oscillating thermal waves.

On the advantages of the vorticity-velocity formulation of the equations of fluid dynamics

open access: yes, 1986
The mathematical properties of the pressure-velocity and vorticity-velocity formulations of the equations of viscous flow are compared. It is shown that a vorticity-velocity formulation exists which has the interesting property that non-inertial effects ...

Past Global Warming Influence on Intense Typhoons Reaching Southern China During El Niño and La Niña Using a Variable Resolution Global Model

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
Warming shifted westward tracks northwards toward Guangdong, and concentrated curved tracks over the Yangtze River mouth. It is therefore possible that the perceived increased typhoon damage in recent years may be due to intense typhoon tracks shifting to more populated and economically important regions.

Numerical Analyses of Wave Generation and Vortex Formation under the Action of Viscous Fluid Flows over a Depression

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
Transient free-surface deformations and evolving vortices due to the passage of flows over a submerged cavity are simulated. A two-dimensional stream function–vorticity formulation with a free-surface model is employed.

Local Polynomial Regression and Filtering for a Versatile Mesh‐Free PDE Solver

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Volume 98, Issue 7, Page 804-839, July 2026.
A high‐order, mesh‐free finite difference method for solving differential equations is presented. Both derivative approximation and scheme stabilisation is carried out by parametric or non‐parametric local polynomial regression, making the resulting numerical method accurate, simple and versatile. Numerous numerical benchmark tests are investigated for

Numerical simulation of flow and heat transfer in a pipe with nail-shaped hurdles

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
We investigate fluid flow and heat transfer in a channel obstructed by nail-shaped hurdles under forced convection using the Finite Difference Method. Due to the absence of an analytical solution, numerical techniques are employed.

Accuracy considerations for implementing velocity boundary condiditons in vorticity formulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A vorticity formulation is described that satisfies the velocity boundary conditions for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. Velocity boundary conditions are satisfied by determining the appropriate vortex sheets that must be created on the ...

Formulation of Peptide‐Based Nanoparticles Using a Microfluidic Device

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, Volume 32, Issue 7, July 2026.
A case study using the TAMARA microfluidic device (Inside Therapeutics) was performed for peptide‐based nanoparticles under different operational parameters such as mixing channel geometry, total flow rate, and flow rate ratio. In this context, WRAP5 cell‐penetrating peptide‐based nanoparticles for siRNA or pDNA delivery demonstrated enhanced ...

On the well-posedness of the unsteady Velocity-Vorticity-Helicity formulation of the Navier–Stokes equations

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we study the three-dimensional velocity-vorticity and helicity (VVH) formulation modelling the flow of incompressible Newtonian fluids. An analysis of the formulation encompassing existence and regularity of solutions is presented which ...
