Association of Corticospinal Tract Asymmetry With Ambulatory Ability After Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ambulatory ability after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is important to patients. We tested whether asymmetry between ipsi‐ and contra‐lesional corticospinal tracts (CSTs) assessed by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is associated with post‐ICH ambulation.

Relationship between anthropometric and strength variables and maximal throwing velocity in female junior handball players - a pilot study

open access: yesActa Gymnica, 2019
Background: Throwing velocity is one of the determinant scoring elements in handball. However, our knowledge of anthropometric factors and shoulder muscle strength among female players and how these affect throwing velocity is limited.

Quantum corrected geodesics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We compute the graviton-induced corrections to the trajectory of a classical test particle. We show that the motion of the test particle is governed by an effective action given by the expectation value (with respect to the graviton state) of the ...

Functional Connectivity Linked to Cognitive Recovery After Minor Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Patients with minor stroke exhibit slowed processing speed and generalized alterations in functional connectivity involving frontoparietal cortex (FPC). The pattern of connectivity evolves over time. In this study, we examine the relationship of functional connectivity patterns to cognitive performance, to determine ...

Galactoseismology: Discovery of Vertical Waves in the Galactic Disk

open access: yes, 2012
We present evidence for a Galactic North-South asymmetry in the number density and bulk velocity of solar neighborhood stars. The number density profile, which is derived from main-sequence stars in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, shows a (North - South ...

Heterogeneous coupling of the Sumatran megathrust constrained by geodetic and paleogeodetic measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Geodetic and paleogeodetic measurements of interseismic strain above the Sumatran portion of the Sunda subduction zone reveal a heterogeneous pattern of coupling.

How to Reconcile the Observed Velocity Function of Galaxies with Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Within a Λ cold dark matter (ΛCDM) scenario, we use high-resolution cosmological simulations spanning over four orders of magnitude in galaxy mass to understand the deficit of dwarf galaxies in observed velocity functions (VFs).

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.

Spectral-element simulations of long-term fault slip: Effect of low-rigidity layers on earthquake-cycle dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We develop a spectral element method for the simulation of long-term histories of spontaneous seismic and aseismic slip on faults subjected to tectonic loading.

Changes in the Velocity Structure of the Greenland Ice Sheet

open access: yesScience, 2006
Using satellite radar interferometry observations of Greenland, we detected widespread glacier acceleration below 66° north between 1996 and 2000, which rapidly expanded to 70° north in 2005.
