A Long‐Lived Human Neurovascular PENTA Culture Model Captures Incomplete Vascular Repair and Glia‐Associated Signaling After Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A long‐lived, five‐cell‐type human neurovascular (PENTA) model recreates vascular disorganization and incomplete repair after traumatic brain injury (TBI). By integrating endothelial, glial, neuronal, and immune components within a 3D scaffold, the platform enables time‐resolved analysis of neurovascular remodeling and provides a human‐relevant system ...

Monin–Obukhov Similarity Theory for Modeling of Wind Turbine Wakes under Atmospheric Stable Conditions: Breakdown and Modifications

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Monin−Obukhov similarity theory (MOST) overestimates the mean vertical velocity gradient in some atmospheric stable conditions, i.e., Richardson number R f < 0.25 .

Carotid Velocities Determine Cerebral Blood Flow Deficits in Elderly Men with Carotid Stenosis <50% [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Vascular Medicine, 2012
To examine if mild carotid stenosis correlates with silent vascular brain changes, we studied a prospective population-based cohort “Men born in 1914.” Data from followups at ages 68 and 81, have been used. Carotid ultrasound was performed at age 81, and cerebral blood flow (CBF) was measured with SPECT at age 82.

The role of body segment movements on the control of centre of mass during balance corrections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
List of abbreviations: COM: centre of mass; CNS: central nervous system; SCA: Spinal Cerebellar Ataxia; APA: anticipatory postural activity. Human stance is an instable bipedal posture characterized by a high centre of mass (COM) located near the ...

Natural Biomaterials for Osteochondral Repair: From Source to Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Biological origin‐guided overview of natural biomaterials and therapeutic strategies for osteochondral tissue engineering. The circular diagram categorizes representative materials and strategies into plant/algae‐derived, microbial‐derived, animal‐derived, and human‐derived sources, centered on an osteochondral defect repair model.

Deficit, Seigniorage and the Growth Laffer Curve in developing countries [PDF]

open access: yes
The endogenous growth literature has established the existence of an inverted-U curve between taxes and economic growth, namely a Growth Laffer Curve (GLC).

Simultaneous Measurement of Velocity and Pressure in a Wing-Tip Vortex

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2009
Simultaneous measurements of fluctuating velocity and pressure have been conducted in the near field of a wing-tip vortex trailing from a NACA0012 half wing.

The Velocity Deficit: Initial Energy Injection for Flow Matching

open access: yes
While Flow Matching theoretically guarantees constant-velocity trajectories, we identify a critical breakdown in high-dimensional practice: the Velocity Deficit. We show that the MSE objective systematically underestimates velocity magnitude, causing generated samples to fail to reach the data manifold-a phenomenon we term Integration Lag.

Solid‐State Nanopore Characterization of Dendrimer‐Peptide Conjugates Across Defined Peptide Loadings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Solid‐state nanopores are used to interrogate dendrimer‐peptide conjugates with systematically varied peptide loading. Single‐particle ionic current signatures reveal how ligand density modulates deformability, transport pathways, and electromechanical coupling during translocation.

Data_Sheet_1_Sap Flow Velocity in Fraxinus pennsylvanica in Response to Water Stress and Microclimatic Variables.PDF

open access: yes, 2022
In arid and semiarid regions with water shortage, forestry development is limited by water availability. Understanding how tree sap flow responds to water stress and microclimatic variables is essential for the management of trees and the understanding ...
