Effect of velocity loss during squat training on neuromuscular performance [PDF]

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports, 2021
This study aimed to compare the effects of three resistance training (RT) programs differing in the magnitude of velocity loss (VL) allowed in each exercise set: 10%, 30%, or 45% on changes in strength, vertical jump, sprint performance, and EMG variables.

Low-Velocity Loss Induces Similar Strength Gains to Moderate-Velocity Loss During Resistance Training

Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research, 2020
Abstract Galiano, C, Pareja-Blanco, F, Hidalgo de Mora, J, and Sáez de Villarreal, E. Low-velocity loss induces similar strength gains to moderate-velocity loss during resistance training. J Strength Cond Res 36(2): 340–345, 2022—This study aimed to analyze the effects of 2 velocity-based resistance training (VBT) programs that used the same ...

Velocity Profiles, Unsteady Friction Losses and Transient Modelling

WRPMD'99, 1999
Transient flows in closed-conduits have traditionally been modeled as onedimensional flows with the assumption that both velocity profiles and friction losses can be accurately predicted on the basis of equivalent steady state (i.e., average) values of velocity.

Loss of space velocity

Space Policy, 1989
Abstract Public doubts surrounding the cost and effectiveness of the space research programme are growing in the USSR, despite (or perhaps because of) a lack of hard information. The author of this article argues that the vast sums committed to the Energiya-Buran system are a monument to the space inductry's overweening ambitions; meanwhile useful ...

Loss of Velocity of Neutrons in Heavy Water

Nature, 1935
WE have made some experiments on the Fermi effect produced in silver, when the neutrons are allowed to pass through a layer of heavy water. We used double-walled cylindrical glass vessels which could be filled with ordinary water or heavy water of 98 per cent purity. The neutron source, a tube containing radon mixed with beryllium powder, was placed in

Velocity-based resistance training: impact of velocity loss in the set on neuromuscular performance and hormonal response

Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism, 2020
This study aimed to compare the effects of 2 resistance training (RT) programs with different velocity losses (VLs) allowed in each set: 10% (VL10%) versus 30% (VL30%) on neuromuscular performance and hormonal response. Twenty-five young healthy males were randomly assigned into 2 groups: VL10% (n = 12) or VL30% (n = 13).

The influences of velocity on pressure losses in hydrate slurry

International Journal of Numerical Methods for Heat & Fluid Flow, 2008
PurposeIn recent years, hydraulic transfer in solid‐liquid flows has been paid considerable attention by many researchers. One of the most important parameters of this kind of flow is the pressure losses. This paper aims to focus on this aspect.Design/methodology/approachTwo‐ and three‐layer models introduced by Doron are significantly capable of ...

Acoustic velocities and energy losses in granular aggregates

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1973
Extensional and torsional velocities in granular aggregates were found to increase with confining pressure, while the associated fractional energy losses per cycle 2πQ−1 decreased. Velocities of elastically deforming aggregates varied as the 1/3 power of pressure for aggregates of clean spherical particles, as the 1/3.5–1/5 power for lubricated ...

Energy loss of heavy ions at high velocity

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1994
Abstract The slowing down of heavy ions by electronic stopping at high velocity is discussed. The ions are nearly fully stripped and have a well defined charge with relatively small fluctuations. Owing to the large charge of the ions, the classical Bohr formula applies instead of the Bethe formula, which is based on a quantum perturbation calculation.

Leaving-Velocity and Exhaust Loss in Steam Turbines

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1934
Abstract This paper gives an exposition of the various items which go to make up the leaving velocity and exhaust loss of a steam turbine. The importance of this loss and the rapidity with which it increases at high loads cause it to be a determining influence in fixing the economic rating of a machine. The several elements necessary for
