Numerical Analysis of the Differential Flowmeter: Standard Orifice and Slotted Orifices

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
The paper presents the results of simulation studies of fluid flow through a standard orifice and two slotted orifices. The research that has been carried out concerns the analysis of the effect of the orifice geometry on the velocity profiles ...

Effect of Transverse Gust Velocity Profiles

open access: yesAIAA Journal, 2020
A large variety of gusts that develop in the atmospheric boundary layer affect aerial vehicles. This study, performed in water tow tanks, compares the response of a flat plate wing to transverse vertical gusts with a top-hat and a sine-squared velocity profile at Reynolds numbers of 20,000-30,000.

Velocity Profiles in Shear-Banding Wormlike Micelles [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2003
Using Dynamic Light Scattering in heterodyne mode, we measure velocity profiles in a much studied system of wormlike micelles (CPCl/NaSal) known to exhibit both shear-banding and stress plateau behavior. Our data provide evidence for the simplest shear-banding scenario, according to which the effective viscosity drop in the system is due to the ...

Measurement and control systems for an imaging electromagnetic flow meter

open access: yes, 2014
Electromagnetic flow metres based on the principles of Faraday's laws of induction have been used successfully in many industries. The conventional electromagnetic flow metre can measure the mean liquid velocity in axisymmetric single phase flows ...

Gap Impact on Rigid Submerged Vegetated Flow and Its Induced Flow Turbulence

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Submerged vegetation plays a crucial role in influencing flow hydrodynamics, generating turbulence, and shaping velocity distributions in aquatic environments.

Ray Trace Tomographic Velocity Analysis of Surface Seismic Reflection Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Recent development of two technologies allows application of a generalized formulation of travel time inversion to very large data sets, such as the surface reflection surveys collected for oil exploration.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

NUMERICAL EXPLORATION OF VISCOUS FLOW REGIMES: INSIGHTS FROM POISEUILLE, COUETTE AND TAYLOR-COUETTE FLOWS [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings on Engineering Sciences
We present a numerical study for Poiseuille and Couette as well as Taylor- Couette swirling flows. The governing equations of momentum and energy are transformed into coupled and nonlinear ordinary differential equations using similarity transformation ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
