The Central Mechanism of Velocity Storage.

open access: yesEquilibrium Research, 1993
The oculomotor system uses both vestibular and visual information to stabilize images on the retina. Together, they maintain the angle of gaze when either the individual or the visual surroundings are moving. By modelling consistent with experimental data, it has been suggested that several mathematical integrations are necessary to produce the ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Low-Temperature Thermal-Energy Storage and Transmission Systems Employing Hydrophilic Polymeric Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The wide fluctuations that occur in the aggregate electrical demand of a generating utility are punitive with respect to total system efficiency. Demand side management techniques have been applied to reduce such fluctuations including the conversion ...

Development of a Model for Performance Analysis of a Honeycomb Thermal Energy Storage for Solar Power Microturbine Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Solar power microturbines are required to produce steady power despite the fluctuating solar radiation, with concerns on the dispatchability of such plants where thermal energy storage may offer a solution to address the issue.

The velocity storage mechanism in human optokinetic nystagmus.

open access: yesNippon Jibiinkoka Gakkai Kaiho, 1989
The velocity storage mechanism was studied in 12 normal human subjects. For optokinetic stimulation, we principally used step stimuli of 80 deg/sec generated by an Ohm type optokinetic stimulation drum. The charge characteristics of the velocity storage mechanism in the human optokinetic nystagmus were closely approximated by the first-degree delay ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Contralesional horizontal vHIT hypergain in chronic unilateral Ménière disease: The fast-domain expression of residual slow-domain asymmetry

open access: yesActa Oto-Laryngologica Case Reports
The objective is to describe contralesional horizontal video head impulse test (vHIT) hypergain in chronic unilateral Ménière disease and relate it to low-frequency rotational asymmetry.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
