A Proof‐of‐Concept Assessment of a Novel Wearable Eyelid Muscle Device: A Pre‐Clinical Animal Cadaver Study for Eyelid Closure Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article introduces a soft wearable eyelid sling device incorporating a hydraulic soft artificial muscle (SAM) for achieving complete closure of an eyelid. The SAM is driven by a cam mechanism that provides a displacement profile closely matched with those of a healthy eyelid.

Holographic superfluid/fluid/insulator phase transitions in 2+1 dimensions

open access: yes, 2011
We study the breaking of an Abelian symmetry close to the horizon of a black string as well as close to the tip of a solitonic, cigar-shaped solution in (3+1)-dimensional Anti-de Sitter space-time.

Distribution of peculiar velocities from cosmic strings

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1992
Abstract The peculiar velocities due to multiple cosmic string impulses is found to have a normal distribution whose mean and standard deviation can be written in terms of the string network evolution parameters. It appears that the observed peculiar velocities may be accounted for in the scenario although there may be a problem with the scaling of ...

Effective potential for revolving D-branes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We quantize an open string stretched between D0-branes revolving around each other. The worldsheet theory is analyzed in a rotating coordinate system in which the worldsheet fields obey simple boundary conditions, but instead the worldsheet Lagrangian ...

TreeSpider: In‐Canopy Exploration With Tether‐Based Aerial Modular Arms

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A tethered drone with perching arms and a 360° ring enables unprecedented maneuverability within dense forest canopies. By dynamically adjusting tether length and decoupling pitch from the frame, it navigates between branches, senses multiple trees, and interacts physically with foliage.
