The velocity structure of S54 and S142
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1982The velocity structures of two extended, low-density and low-temperature Hii, regions S54 and S142, have been examined. Both exhibit an ionized sheet structure.

Velocity analysis with multiples — NMO modeling for layered velocity structures
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2008, 2008Several method exist to invert for a velocity model from seismic data. Most commonly used methods are defined in the image domain. However, some methods that are defined in the data domain also exist. In this paper we review and compare a few methods on synthetic data, using the convolutional model and NMO traveltimes to model the data.

Shear velocity structure of central Eurasia from inversion of surface wave velocities
Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 2001We present a shear velocity model of the crust and upper mantle beneath central Eurasia by simultaneous inversion of broadband group and phase velocity maps of fundamental-mode Love and Rayleigh waves. The model is parameterized in terms of velocity depth profiles on a discrete 2 2 grid.

Anomalous scaling of velocity and temperature structure functions
Physical Review E, 2001Scaling-range power-law exponents of velocity and temperature structure functions are examined through the dimensional analysis framework of the refined similarity hypotheses using measurements in a variety of turbulent flows and Reynolds numbers. The resulting magnitude of the scaling exponent associated with the locally averaged energy dissipation ...

Velocity structure in gravel rivers
2009This thesis investigates velocity profiles in high gradient rivers with rough beds. Experimental work was carried out in the Hydraulics Laboratory of The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia. Velocity measurements were taken in the flume with variable slope (S=0.01 to 0.021) and the size of bed material was D5o=5.0 cm ...

The Structure of Turbulent Velocity Fields.
1978Abstract : A systematic study of two-dimensional, turbulent, small-deficit wakes investigated the structure and universality of their self-preserving states. Various wake generators, including circular cylinders, a symmetrical airfoil, a flat plate, and an assortment of screens of varying solidity, were studied for a wide range of downstream distances.

Shock Structure in a Simple Discrete Velocity Gas
The Physics of Fluids, 1964The structure of a shock wave in a simple discrete velocity gas—a gas in which the molecules move with a finite set of velocities—is discussed. The Boltzmann equation becomes, for this gas, a set of coupled differential equations which, in the present example, can be solved exactly.
