Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in the Elderly: Rare Indications but Good Tolerability

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Apheresis, Volume 41, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is used for a wide range of indications and is associated with well‐described adverse events. However, no study has specifically focused on tolerance in elderly patients, despite its expected increasing use in this population. We conducted a single‐center retrospective case–control study of all patients aged ≥

Efficacy and Safety of Catheter Ablation in Very Elderly Patients With Atrial Fibrillation: Short‐ To Mid‐Term Outcomes From a Multicenter Study

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 3, June 2026.
Patients aged ≥ 80 years with atrial fibrillation underwent catheter ablation. At 2 years, the recurrence‐free survival rate was 85.8% in paroxysmal AF and 63.6% in persistent AF (p = 0.024), and periprocedural complications occurred in 12.0%, including severe complications in 3.3%.

Electrophysiological Characteristics of Atrial Fibrillation Trigger Sites During Ongoing Atrial Fibrillation Using Ultra‐High‐Resolution Mapping

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 3, June 2026.
AF trigger sites exhibited a markedly shorter minimum local cycle length during ongoing AF, suggesting transient rapid activity. Ultra‐high‐resolution mapping during ongoing AF may provide complementary mechanistic information when conventional trigger mapping is inconclusive.

Entrance‐Site Ablation in Atrial Tachycardia Involving Epicardial Conduction: A Case Series

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 3, June 2026.
In patients with AT involving epicardial conduction, a systematic entrainment‐guided approach to identify and ablate the entrance site proved effective when conventional exit‐site ablation was insufficient. ABSTRACT Background Treatment of atrial tachycardia (AT) involving epicardial conduction remains challenging.

Sinogram‐based flow estimation in computed tomography using a physics‐informed neural network: Impact of gantry rotation speed, X‐ray fluence and pulsed acquisition on accuracy

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 53, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Background Non‐invasive imaging‐based assessment of blood flow plays a critical role in evaluating heart function and structure. Computed Tomography (CT) is a widely‐used imaging modality that can robustly evaluate cardiovascular anatomy and function, but direct methods to estimate blood flow velocity from movies of contrast dynamics have not ...
