Parasympathetic Tone Selectively Modulates Electrogram Fragmentation and Spectral Properties in Right Atrial Ganglionated Plexi

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 4, August 2026.
Electrogram fragmentation and spectral EGMs features in GPs area are selectively modulated by parasympathetic tone, as demonstrated by high‐density right atrial mapping before and after vagal blockade. EGMs, bipolar atrial electrograms; GPs, ganglionated plexi; RA, right atrium.

Deresuscitation Informed by Ultrasound in Patients With Septic Shock Trial

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 8, Page 1685-1693, August 2026.
Objectives The venous excess ultrasound (VExUS) can be used at the point‐of‐care to identify venous overload and end‐organ congestion in an effort to individually tailor resuscitation and deresuscitation in patients with septic shock. Methods We conducted a pilot randomized controlled feasibility trial of VExUS‐guided fluid management in adult patients

Precision Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy for Ultra‐Central NSCLC: Tailored Margins Reduce Toxicity Without Compromising Tumor Control

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
A tailored non‐uniform PTV strategy (including PTVcrop and PTV_high/PTV_low) was used in SBRT for ultra‐central NSCLC to meet stringent OAR constraints. Notably, this SBRT strategy achieved favorable clinical outcomes, with an 84.6% 3‐year local control rate, a median PFS of 42.9 months. Additionally, treatment‐related toxicity was mild, with only 1.5%

A modality‐agnostic coronary artery habitat model for cardiac sparing in radiotherapy

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 53, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Background Emerging evidence suggests that the risk of cardiotoxicity increases with increased radiation dose to coronary arteries (CAs). However, robust tools to evaluate this increased burden for cancer patients are not available due to current limitations in imaging for radiotherapy treatment planning.

ASK1‐Induced FGF21 Synthesis in the Liver Prevents Obesity in Mice

open access: yesObesity, Volume 34, Issue 8, Page 1635-1646, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) is a stress‐induced hormone secreted by the liver. It has a beneficial role in the regulation of glucose and energy metabolism. Herein, we identify apoptosis signal regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) as an inducer of hepatic FGF21 synthesis.

Systematic Reanalysis of Whole‐Exome Sequencing in Genetically Unsolved Pediatric Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia

open access: yesPediatric Pulmonology, Volume 61, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a genetically heterogeneous disorder, and despite advances in next‐generation sequencing, a substantial proportion of clinically suspected pediatric cases remain without a molecular diagnosis.
