Small Vendian transversely Articulated fossils
Paleontological Journal, 2007Three new genera of transversely articulated Metazoa are described from the Upper Vendian of the Arkhangelsk Region (Russia). Tamga gen. nov. and Lossinia gen. nov. are recognized to be closely related to the extinct Precambrian phylum Proarticulata; Ivovicia gen. nov. is considered as a true member of Proarticulata; all of the new genera are monotypic.

Global climates of the Vendian
Russian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2003The global climate of the Vendian has been the subject of considerable debate. In view of the diculties of stratigraphic correlations, the absence of reliably reconstructed positions of continents, the scarcity of climate indicators, and the fact that Vendian outcrop areas are widely separated, it is so far possible to identify only the most general ...

Paleoecological feedback and the Vendian-Cambrian transition
Trends in Ecology & Evolution, 1988The emergence of abundant skeletonized animals during the Vendian-Cambrian transition is seen by paleontologists as an 'explosion' when nearly all basic designs of invertebrate life appeared for the first time in the fossil record. Breakthroughs in trophic strategy, involving an increasing three-dimensionality in the benthic habitat and positive ...

YUDOMIAN (VENDIAN) OF THE TYPE LOCALITY
Russian Geology and Geophysics, 1994With new data obtained, the Yudomian Series (the Siberian Vendian) is characterized more precisely and more comprehensively in its type locality (Bol. Aim R. basin and near the Yudoma R. mouth). The new data corroborate the Tommotian age of the most ancient layers of the Pestrotsvet Formation in the region, which overlap here the Yudomian deposits with

Metameric features in the Vendian metazoans
Italian Journal of Zoology, 1998Abstract Metamerism as the serial homology is widespread among the Vendian (Late Precambrian) metazoans. Prevalence of segmented forms among the Vendian Bilateria suggests that in many phylogenetic lineages of Metazoa the evolutionary development of the bilateral symmetry and metamerism were related processes.

Was Scotland a Vendian RRR junction?
Journal of the Geological Society, 1994In Early Palaeozoic time northern Scotland occupied a 120° promontory between the Appalachian and Greenland Iapetus-facing margins of Laurentia. It is proposed that this originated at a triple rift (RRR) jundion between Laurentia and two other continents, possibly Baltica and West Gondwana.

Late Vendian postcollisional leucogranites of Yenisei Ridge
Doklady Earth Sciences, 2017The Late Vendian (540–550 Ma) U–Pb zircon age of postcollisional granitoids in the Osinovka Massif was obtained for the first time. The Osinovka Massif is located in rocks of the island-arc complex of the Isakovka Terrane, in the northwestern part of the Sayany–Yenisei accretion belt. These events stand for the final stage of the Neoproterozoic history

The Eocambrian (Vendian sensu stricto)
1983Different geologic formations that originated after the Katangan orogeny are here attributed to the Eocambrian, the time of their formation being after 680–650 m.y. and prior to the beginning of the Cambrian period, that is earlier than 570 m.y. The duration of the Eocambrian is thus 100–80 m.y., which is much shorter than that of other principal units

Vendian strata in their type area
Geological Magazine, 1987AbstractIn the Eastern European region Vendian strata are divisible into two complexes: the lower one, only locally developed, is composed of alternating tillites, volcanics, sandy–clay rocks and dolomites; and the upper one, of alternating sandstone, siltstone, and mudstone strata with medusoid fauna, resting transgressively on the lower complex and ...

New Vendian Metazoa with Colonial Organization
Paleontological JournalA new organism with colonial organization, Olgunia bondarenkoae gen. et sp. nov., of sponge or coelenterate grade, is described from the Vendian deposits of the South-Eastern White Sea region. The new genus is characterized by a modular pattern and coordinated growth of neighboring individuals arranged in a fan-shape. The new genus has a combination of
