2017One of the major complications of bariatric surgery is venous thromboembolic (VTE) disease which manifests itself as deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and/or pulmonary embolism (PE). The risk of DVT is between 1 and 3 %, and PE is between 0.2 and 2 % within 30 days of bariatric surgery [1, 2].
