Abstract The mechanism of gas-leakage is a basic problem of the unsteady ventilated supercavitation theory. This paper is devoted to the problem and presents a calculation formula of gas-leakage rate. The rate of volume change of supercavity is numerically calculated based on Logvinovich's Principle and the empirical formula.

Based on the complete sets of similarity criteria for modelling experiments of exhausted-hot gas ventilated supercavity flows which had been derived by author before, considering the effects of phase changes, a similarity law of flowrate for ventilated hot-gas supercavity flows is found and described in this paper.
