An interpretable 1D convolutional neural network for detecting patient-ventilator asynchrony in mechanical ventilation

Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, 2021
Patient-ventilator asynchrony (PVA) is the result of a mismatch between the need of patients and the assistance provided by the ventilator during mechanical ventilation. Because the poor interaction between the patient and the ventilator is associated with inferior clinical outcomes, effort should be made to identify and correct their occurrence.

Control design for mine ventilation network systems

Proceedings of the 41st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002., 2003
Ventilation networks in coal mines serve the critical task of maintaining a low concentration of explosive or noxious gases. Due to the objective of controlling fluid flows, mine ventilation networks are high-order nonlinear systems. Previous efforts on this topic were based on multivariable linear models. The designs presented here are for a nonlinear

Ventilation Mode Recognition Using Artificial Neural Networks

Computers and Biomedical Research, 1997
This study investigated the capabilities of artificial neural networks to identify spontaneous and pressure support ventilation modes from gas flow and airway pressure signals. After receiving written informed consent, flow and pressure waveforms were recorded from 13 patients undergoing general anesthesia.

Mine Ventilation Networks

2020
Mining ventilation networks are made up of the galleries and ducts through which the air is distributed inside the exploitations. The ultimate aim in these calculations is the dimensioning of the main fan which will supply fresh air to the mine.

Neural networks in ventilation-perfusion imaging.

Radiology, 1996
To optimize the performance of artificial neural networks in the prediction of pulmonary embolism from ventilation-perfusion (V-P) scans.Neural networks were constructed with a set of V-P scan criteria that included sharpness and completeness of perfusion defects and involved quantification of abnormalities by using a continuous numeric scale.
