Improved ventricular function during inhalation of PGI(2) aerosol partly relies on enhanced myocardial contractility [PDF]
Inhaled prostacyclin (PGI(2)) aerosol induces selective pulmonary vasodilation. Further, it improves right ventricular ( RV) function, which may largely rely on pulmonary vasodilation, but also on enhanced myocardial contractility.

Identification of Anticoagulation Benefit Subgroups of Patients With Left Ventricular Thrombus
Background: Left ventricular thrombus (LVT) is associated with major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs). Anticoagulation represents the current primary management for LVT; however, current studies in some Asian ...

Evidence that conflict regarding size of haemodynamic response to interventricular delay optimization of cardiac resynchronization therapy may arise from differences in how atrioventricular delay is kept constant. [PDF]
Aims: Whether adjusting interventricular (VV) delay changes haemodynamic efficacy of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is controversial, with conflicting results.

Thyroid hormone levels within reference range are associated with heart rate, cardiac structure, and function in middle-aged men and women [PDF]
Background: Triiodothyronine (T3) has many effects on the heart, and marked changes in cardiac function and structure occur in patients with (subclinical) thyroid disease. We investigated whether between-subject variation in thyroid hormone levels within

Neutrophil deficiency increases T cell numbers at the site of tissue injury in mice
In wild‐type mice, injury or acute inflammation induces neutrophil influx followed by macrophage accumulation. Mcl1ΔMyelo (neutrophil‐deficient) mice lack neutrophils, and in response to muscle injury show fewer macrophages and exhibit strikingly elevated T‐cell numbers, primarily non‐conventional “double‐negative” (DN) αβ and γδ T cells.

Right Ventricular Function, Peripheral Edema, and Acute Kidney Injury in Critical Illness
The cardiorenal syndrome generally focuses on left ventricular function, and the importance of the right ventricle as a determinant of renal function is described less frequently. In a cohort of critically ill patients with echocardiographic measurements

Initial studies of diastolic cardiac function in hypertension demonstrated that slowing of the maximal rate of left ventricular filling occurred before alterations in either ejection fraction or cardiac output. The present study was undertaken to determine: 1) the relation between hypertension, increased left ventricular mass and impaired left ...

Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells
