Remodelamento ventricular na estimulação cardíaca apical do ventrículo direito Ventricular remodeling in right ventricular apical pacing

Assessment of Right Ventricular Function in Left Ventricular Assist Device Candidates

open access: yesCirculation Cardiovascular Imaging, 2014
As a result of the improved survival of patients with heart failure (HF) and the overall rise in the prevalence of HF,1 the number of patients in advanced (stage D) HF continues to increase, thus exceeding the limited availability of donor organs by a ...

An MRI assessment of mechanisms underlying lesion growth and shrinkage in multiple sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
By applying the tensor model, we analysed lesion orientation and the directionality of lesion expansion/contraction in multiple sclerosis. Each lesion is summarized as an ellipsoid, and the tensor model is applied to calculate lesion anisotropy. From the top to the bottom white matter atlas, surface‐in gradient segmentation and venous atlas used in the

Efeitos da inibição prolongada da enzima de conversão da angiotensina sobre as características morfológicas e funcionais da hipertrofia ventricular esquerda em ratos com sobrecarga pressórica persistente Effects of the prolonged inhibition of the angiotensin-converting enzyme on the morphological and functional characteristics of left ventricular hypertrophy in rats with persistent pressure overload

The Variation in the Diastolic Period with Interventricular Septal Displacement and Its Relation to the Right Ventricular Function in Pulmonary Hypertension: A Preliminary Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Study

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2022
Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is known to alter the biventricular shape and temporal phases of the cardiac cycle. The presence of interventricular septal (IVS) displacement has been associated with the severity of PH.

Alternative Stable Scroll Waves and Conversion of Autowave Turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesChaos, 20(4): 043136, 2010, 2010
Rotating spiral and scroll waves (vortices) are investigated in the FitzHugh-Nagumo model of excitable media. The focus is on a parameter region in which there exists bistability between alternative stable vortices with distinct periods. Response Functions are used to predict the filament tension of the alternative scrolls and it is shown that the slow-

Echocardiographic assessment of left ventricular systolic function

open access: yesJournal of Echocardiography, 2018
Left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (LVEF) is the most validated and commonly used echocardiographic measure of systolic function. LVEF has a unique position in cardiology having severed as selection criteria for therapeutic trials that constitute ...

UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase variants cause dystroglycanopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase (UGDH) variants have been associated with hypotonia, developmental delay, and epilepsy. We report the first pathologic evidence of dystroglycanopathy in siblings with UGDH variants. Both presented around 6 months with developmental delay and elevated creatinine kinase.
